Sunday Morning

Well Saturday was a special day for me as I actually celebrated my 70th big day, yeow I can hardly believe where those years went but I've been blessed in so many ways that I won't bore you with all the details except to say great family, awesome friends, a love of the outdoors and my faith most of all. I had a great meal at The depot in Cody Creek in Dobson with our "mountain mom" Helen, her brother Joe and dear friends Eddie and Kimberly Kluttz. Eddie is doing so well despite his life changing infirmities and confined to a wheel chair that one can only feel blessed when in his presence. He is an inspiration to us all.

The day started with a roll out a little after 6 to my routines of a hot cup of turmeric tea, the posting of this ramble and then my quiet time with my Creator. It had quit raining and looked as if the weather might hold for the day except for a monsoon down pour as we approached the restaurant in Dobson around 4:30, yikes did it ever rain and the parking lot was under running water as we waited for the rain to abate. I got a call around 8'ish as Bobby and Katie called to wish me the best and then a little later the Ross grand kiddos called singing the birthday song to me. They were all so sweet and blessed my heart. Since I had celebrated around the fourth of July with the surprise party orchestrated by the family and friends I hadn't given much thought to the big day except going out to eat with friends but I did get so many well wishes on FB, and with phone calls and even more cards in the mail; plus we both were treated by Helen at the restaurant. I'm humbled and feel honored to have received so much attention on this day and I'm very thankful. I even got a late evening call from Paw Paw.

I remembered a Fed EX package that was in the closet and opened it to find a couple CD's from my era as well as some "what was popular and happening in 1946" Yeow, that was awhile ago and many thanks to oldest sister Josie for those sentimental gifts. We will cut a rug next week at the annual Gravel Springs picnic/reunion in Star Tannery, Virginia with family and friends. It's always great to visit my old stomping grounds yearly. We did get in a hike to the top of the mountain and sat a spell visiting the Ann and Sandy Cline on their front porch and then we saw for the first time this year Mike and Nancy who were just informed there was a contract on their beautiful log cabin. It's been on the market for a couple of years.

Well we watched some of the Olympics after getting back around 6:30 or so. It was a nice ride down to Dobson which is about 45 minutes down off the mountain. The temps were in the 90's and we were glad to get back on the mountain where it was considerably cooler yet very humid. We almost turned on the window a/c units but the ceiling fans kept it comfortable. It wasn't long after 10'ish it was shower time and then some horizontal lab for me, LATER
