Friday Morning

Well Thursday for most of the day was rather laid back with no deadlines to meet except for a rendezvous at 6 PM with Kaitlyn and Curtis at their farm so the kiddos could pet some animals. Everyone slept in except me who was wide awake at a little before 6 almost no matter what time I go to bed the night before. We did get a visit for lunch from our dear friend DJ who spent a couple hours with us. His oldest daughter Corrine was married the first of June and we attended her wedding in Winston.

I managed to do a few little chores around the cabin after my morning routines and a hearty breakfast of a western omelet that chef Bobby prepared when he ventured down stairs after a sleep in until 8'ish along with the kiddos. The driveway has some ruts where the heavy down pour the day before washed the gravel away so I loaded up the golf cart and some tools and straightened them out which kept me busy for an hour or so. Then I managed to transplant the last of the Zinnias in the upper garden where the slugs had devoured my small lettuce seedlings. Nancy was busy catching up on the laundry for everyone and I did get the gardens hoed and weeded and added another top piece to the 1/2 runner beans which are climbing out of control.

Nancy made the most delicious cherry cobbler from the cherries we picked at Helen's brother place a couple weeks ago and had frozen them, wow I even had seconds as it was that tasty after a late lunch of salad. DJ stayed and ate with us and he to was amazed at the flavor of the cherries and the cobbler. The kiddos played outside as the weather was perfect, painted watercolor pictures, blew bubbles in the breeze and had a very nice time together. We played card games, shot the BB gun and ventured around the yards looking for butterfly's. I noticed a few of the wineberry's starting to open up and turning red which thrilled Annsley, She loves to pick and eat them.

We took off around 4 o'clock for Galax, Va to get some last minute goodies for Friday and Saturday's get together with my first cousin Tammy and her family minus their oldest daughter who will spend 2 nights with us. They will drive up from the coast today which is probably a 4-5 hour drive. We filled up with gas and goodies at WalMart and Food City before heading to Kaitlyn's and Curtis's neat little farm. We traveled through the back roads and while the forecast was for rain we did encounter some heavy rain but when we arrived at their place the sun was shining and the temps were perfect.

The kiddos got to hold baby rabbits in their shirts that still had their eyes closed as well as pet lots of little ones in their cages. They hand fed goats as well as bottle fed 2 calves and played with their two small dogs. It was a fun time and today Friday we are heading over to her mothers place to ride her horse and see the new foal. After leaving the farm we headed to the pizzeria where we ate two large pies with pepperoni and mushrooms and then headed back to the cabin just before dark. The kiddos got their baths and then we played several games of Old Maids and Crazy 8's with them before their bedtime around 9:30 ish.

We decide to get into 5 rounds of double 12 domino's and I wiped the floor with them winning 4 of the 5 rounds. It was going on 11 so we decided to cancel

further play for another time and I hit the shower as did Bobby. Nancy soon followed after we hit the sack, LATER
