Friday Morning

Well we are up and eagerly awaiting the arrival of our son and two other couples, actually we will meet them at the Shelton Vineyard in Dobson after they arrive at the Greensboro airport sometime around 8:30 this AM. Tomorrow is the big wedding day in Winston-Salem for our dear friend D.J's and Jenny's oldest daughter,Corrine.

Thursday started out with it being cold and wet so I drug out the portable heater for Nancy. I didn't think it was that uncomfortable but when she's hot she hot and when she's cold she's cold, anyhow it was still foggy and overcast and just plain nasty outside as it rained softly most of the night. About mid morning the rain stopped and finally we saw some shades of the sun. After a lite breakfast of oatmeal and fruit and a few quiet moments I headed down to check on the slugs and only found a couple to smash. The rest of the garden was looking better but now we need some sunshine to help push through the new sprouts from the beans, radishes and peas. I do think the new seedlings will probably produce.

I fired up the golf cart and loaded the pole saw and headed out the lane to cut some low hanging tree limbs that kept smashing into the windshield an antenna of the truck as we passed by. The rain had the leaves weighted down and of course as I cut them I was drenched from the rain that had accumulated in the tree over the past several days. With the showing of some sunshine at times the temperature actually began to get out of the 50's and the the gravel rock on the driveway began to finally dry. I decided to vacuum the inside of the cabin and give the grass another hour or so to dry before cutting it. After cleaning the floors I wanted to dry mop some spray wax onto the floor and did that ever brighten up the wood. That sure made a difference and I used a spray to apply the wax, so it was easy and the results were fantastic.

After a lite lunch I fired up the riding mower and cut the yards all except for the backwoods yard. Afterwards I fired up the weed whacker and trimmed what I couldn't get with the mower. Wow was it ever so much easier to cut this time around. It was going on two so I needed to get ready as we had to be in town for Nancy's 3 PM hair cut. Afterwards we headed to the grocery once again before heading over to the Tracy's cabin. I sat in the truck and read FROZEN IN TIME while she did her thing.

Kathryn had made chicken Parmesan and pasta as well as Nancy brought a huge salad and once more we put on the feedbag. Delicious and strawberry shortcake for dessert; there goes the spare tire once again being inflated with all of this fine eatin', oh well!! We sat out on their side porch over looking the mountains and hills and dined with million dollar views. After the clean up we got into a hotly contested game of Phase 10 and Kathryn smoked us with a big win. It was nearly 9 PM and it was still light outside. We headed out across the county to our place which takes about 30 minutes or more depending on traffic and road construction. The skies had finally cleared somewhat but the fog was still evident on the mountain tops.

It was hot shower time and not much longer until I was in the horizontal position covered up with a sheet, comforter and another blanket. Wow was that ever conducive

to some great sleeping and I never stirred until just a little before 6 this AM, LATER
