Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday turned out once more to be a rather nice day with some overcast and cloudiness but the temps were moderate and it reached the low 60's by late afternoon. We started the day with a 7'ish roll out and after our usual routines be headed in to the big city of Sparta around 9:30. Nancy had a hair appointment and I headed to the library. I took Bobby 's book The Great Darkening to show Debbie the librarian and she wants one for the library shelf. She was rather impressed and wanted to meet him but she will be out of town this weekend when he and the kiddo's arrive for a visit.

I picked up Nancy around 11:30 and we headed to Becca's Backwood Bean café for lunch. We decided on the bowl of chili which was superb in flavor and loaded with lots of goodies. Her chicken salad sandwiches looked awesome as well on homemade bread but we decided since we wanted to cut down on the bread consumption to just have the chili instead. We did purchased a loaf of wheat bread right out of the oven for this weekend along with a quart of raw honey and a bottle of very good red wine. We headed for the cabin around 1'ish.

We took a leisurely hike to the top of the mountain and visited with Joe and Jetta. Once again our conversations always end up talking about food or recipes. We will miss them as they head out for the weekend to Tennessee and hopefully will see them on Monday before we pull out Tuesday morning for the winter. We headed down off the mountain and I talked Nancy into a game of badminton on my new court. I think this new court will add to some exciting play next year when we have guests. We use to play all the time but with the land so uneven here it was hard to have good play. We batted the birdie around for nearly a half hour before we had to get ready for our supper guests.

Nancy had some sirloin steaks in an Italian dressing marinate for most of the day and then we had taters in the oven baking and along with a fresh salad we had a sumptuous meal. No bread or dessert for a change. Joe and Helen our "mountain mom" came around 4:30 and we had a delightful time. They both looked in good health after a bout last week with the flu and a round or two of antibiotics. We will miss them this winter and our supper's together. After they left around 7'ish which is very late for them as it was already dark; we cleaned up the dishes then watched the Fox News channel about the whupping the GOP put on the Dem's. Actually I think it was a referendum on the failed leadership of this Potus and his direction or lack thereof for the country. Now the GOP just needs to lead and bring bills to the floor of the Congress that benefit the nation and make our land secure from this threat of the Muslim radicals and illegal immigrants. Put the pipeline into operation and make us oil independent of the Arabs and put folks back to work and give them a sense of well being and hope with a job and an opportunity to succeed on their own merits without gov't interference, LATER
