Well Friday turned out to be a great travel day to Pennsylvania from beautiful Virginia. We had a nice trip through the heart of the corn country with huge farms all along the way. We got to our family's house in Lancaster around 1'ish. It was an interesting drive into the farm land with lots of corn, alfalfa, wheat and soybeans fields.
We got to see Nancy's mom who had been visiting with her sister Daryl who husband was our Uncle Warnie who had passed away and was the reason we had all gathered to honor his memory. The crowd began to arrive around 3'ish and the food was being catered. There was plenty to eat and the vino flowed freely.
It was after 11 before we headed to the hotel with her brother Eric in tow. I drove him to the airport early Saturday morning and then we got ready to head back to Bill and Chis's house around 10 AM. for another round of eating and partying. I put on 2 huge full turkeys breast in the smoker with lots of apple and cherry wood. After about 4 hours I then put on a nice 6 pound standing rib roast in the smoker for about 2 hours and 1/2 and it was perfect when I cut it after letting it set for about 30 minutes. The meat was awesome in flavor and taste as was the fresh corn, salads and other dishes.
We left around 11'ish once again for the hotel and after a hot shower it was time for some horizontal lab. We finally left around 9 this A.M. and headed for Gettysburg. We did an hour walking around the town before heading back to Woodstock. We stopped in Martinsburg, W.Va. and met up with my oldest sister, Josie. We had a bite of lunch at Mc Donalds before heading on south to youngest sister Dee's house where we will spent the night before heading back to the cabin.
I'm cutting this short and will post pictures on my next blog from the memorial and our trip, LATET
