Well Tuesday found me recuperating either from a summer cold or some form of allergies from either the Jasmine, Magnolia or possibly the honey suckle that is blooming in my yard. I walk outside and I can smell all three at once and what a delicious aroma, oh well. In all actually I think I picked up a bug from either the grand kids or someone at church, but I'm on the road to recovery as the voice has cleared up and only an occasional cough so I'm heading back to the rec this morning for an abbreviated workout to say the least.
The morning on Tuesday found us sleeping in until nearly 7:30 again as I decided to skip pickle ball for the second day in a row. I just flirted away the morning on the computer after my quiet times and a lite breakfast. I did head out to hand water the new seedlings and the grass sprigs. Amy was bringing Sam and Eliza by around 10 as she had her yearly eye appointment. Sam was into a pirate movie along with several snacks. That boy is starting to pack away the food as he must be in a growth spurt. Eliza was her usual laid back self with lots of smiles and cooing. We entertained on the bed with the music box as well as singing.
Amy picked up GG for lunch and we had leftovers; brats, hot dogs, salad, etc. from the weekend fares. After they left around 2:30 to pick Ava up from school we decided to read and take a nap and we fell asleep for a good 30 minute nap, wow did that ever feel good. We decided to share a grilled salmon steak with some homemade fried rice that had some carrots from the garden mixed in. That dish has become one of our all time favorites and we just started preparing it recently. That dish takes me back to my flying days into the Orient when it was a daily dish when eating off base. You can add whatever such as peas, mushrooms, carrots, pork, shrimp, beef, etc. It is very tasty with a little soy sauce but best eaten with a fork whereas we had to eat it with chop sticks in Japan.
Well after the cleanup I headed out to give the gardens and yards another drink. It was so hot and muggy in the afternoon and the breeze made it feel like a convection oven but by late evening the clouds moved in and it looked like rain but we never got a drop. Thankfully it cooled down a just a little to make it bearable to hand water. We settled into the Fox News channel and then I headed for the showers. The Ray's are playing on the left coast so I missed their last 2 games as they start when I'm heading for some horizontal lab, LATER.
This is my white orchid that had 7 blooms this year but the slugs managed to destroy 5 of them but this one survived. It is just gorgeous and the smell is delicious. This is the easiest flowering plant I know to take care of. I do almost nothing as it's an air plant; maybe an occasional shot of water from the hose and maybe once a year a shot of miracle grow and that's it as they grow in a pot of pine bark underneath some vines for shade up off the ground.
