Wednesday

Well it was another chilly ride out to the rec on my bike the first thing this morning which required me to wear a flannel shirt but by mid-morning the temps had moderated and once more it was a spring like day with temps reaching the low 80's by the afternoon. Wow is this not ideal weather and so far the big bad humidity hasn't shown itself in days; we can only hope it stays away awhile longer.

The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to start the day then my routines of a cup of hot green tea, a few quiet moments, the posting of this ramble before a lite breakfast then a ride to the rec for some 2 plus hours of pickle ball. We had 2 courts going at all times and many of our top players were attending a tournament in Clearwater. I opted out to play due to the recent back problems and probably won't play tournaments again. I would rather play continuously than give it all for a couple games then have to sit and wait for the next match. I stiffen up in between matches and it wouldn't be fair to my partner to not give it my all, oh well!

I stopped off at the library and picked up a couple new reads before heading home. The crisp clean air had me heading out to work in the garden and yards after hanging a load of laundry. Nancy had taken her mom, GG shopping at the mall then they were coming back here for lunch. I made a guacamole using cilantro and dill from my garden while waiting for all to arrive, yeow was that ever delicious along with cold meatloaf sandwiches.  Amy and the kiddo's came as well. Little Eliza is growing like a weed and she tries her hardest to communicate with us with her cooing and little noises she makes. She is just adorable and such a good baby. She is mostly sleeping through the night at such a young age as well.

I received notice from the VA that my sonogram showed no aneurysms in the aortic area of my abdominal cavity but the MRI did show lots of arthritis, bone spurs and degeneration in the L-5 area of my lower back. It looks as if I will be seeing a chiropractor regularly from now on. I'm thrilled I'm back to being active without any major discomfort and disability. I can live with where I'm at right now, thanks to the chiropractor manipulations. I settled into the reading mode until it was time to grill some salmon for supper and along with green beans from the garden and a Caesar salad from the garden we had us a delicious feast. The beans were awesome and reminded us our 1/2 runner beans in taste. We can hardly wait to plant them in our mountain garden in June.

Well today was the anniversary of my retirement from the Florida Highway Patrol after 30 years of  service as a traffic homicide investigator. I'm finding it hard to believe where did these past 10 years go? It's been a great ride so far and I'm blessed beyond belief. We are looking forward in the next couple months of heading back to our beloved mountain cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It will be difficult to leave our kids and grand kids especially little Eliza Faye but hopefully we will have lots of family and friends visit this summer, LATER
