Well Monday once again was another cool day with lots of bright sunshine and very low humidity for central Florida. It did reach the upper 70's by late afternoon but quite a chill as I rode out to the rec on my bike around 7:30. I'm hoping this kind of weather will continue for some time to come. The garden sure loves it especially the cooler weather plants.
I started the day with a 6'ish roll out to my usual routines; a cup of hot green tea, a few quiet moments, the posting of this ramble and then a lite breakfast of cereal with fresh fruit before riding my bike to the rec for some 2 plus hours of pickle ball. We had 3 courts going for most of the morning with good players so the wet shirts were in abundance. I stopped off at the library to pickup a couple new reads and return some as well. I finished the biography HAPPY,HAPPY, HAPPY by Phil Robertson(Duck Dynasty) and its a great read about a man from very humble beginnings who as most of us do at one time or another become consumed by something as we leave the nest and then realize your mistakes and make amends. I will leave the intricacies to what befell this man to your imagination in case you want to read it and I think everyone can take a page or two from his life story and mull over it.
Amy, GG and the kiddo's were coming for lunch so I helped finish up some leftovers. I was scheduled to have a chiropractor treatment at 2:30 but when I got there the doctor was under the weather, so that turned out to be a wasted trip, oh well. I think his staff did a poor job in letting his patients know not to make the trip. Anyhow after getting back I worked in the yard digging and pulling weeds for a couple hours until the opening game for the Ray's baseball season started. It was televised locally with a sellout crowd and the boy's put on a splendid show in every department. They whupped the Blue Jays 9-2 in the opener and play them again tomorrow.
I wish I had taken a picture of a cabbage plant that during its initial growth mutated and grew with 3 viable heads. It was starting to show some heat damage to the outer leaves so I thought it best to harvest it and the 3 heads made for nice cabbages. Did I mention the carrots were about 4-6 inches around and 8 inches long, yeow they were really huge but very tasty. The tomatoes are still producing as well as the lettuce but I'm starting to see some evidence the season is about over.
Well we finished up the barbecue chicken along with a fresh garden salad and fresh asparagus for supper. Afterwards I finished watching the game then tuned into the Fox News channel to see what our inept government is now attempting to pull on us. I hate to say it but this is the most non-transparent administration and at times reminds me of a banana republic. The USA has definitely lost its city on a hill shine that most of the freedom loving folks wanted to emulate and or be a part of, LATER
