Saturday

Well Friday started out with me awake too early as I had a difficult time sleeping. I think all of this dull pain in the back and discomfort in the leg along with the lack of exercise has me falling asleep on the couch in the early hours after supper and then keeping me awake in the early hours of the morning. I guess I will have to go back on some of the meds so I can at least sleep during the night. After my quiet time and a lite breakfast I had a 8 AM meeting at the VA about some additional benefits regarding this service connected injury and I'm now scheduled for a 9 AM  evaluation on Monday by another doctor at the VA.

I got out from the VA just in time to attend Ava's school which was honoring grandparents. I met up with Nancy there and we were entertained by the kindergarten through 5th graders with a program. It was a nice program and the auditorium was jammed pack with grand parents. We brought Ava with us afterwards and Nancy took her to get happy meals at McDonald's. I headed over to pick up GG and bring her for lunch as well. We had a lunch of salad and cold cuts then I headed into the reading room. Little Eliza Faye is so cute and now she is really cooing and showing some personality plus she is such a happy baby. I played with her on the bed and she really moves her head to follow your voice and look at toys. She is just a little butterball.

After they all left I picked lettuces, kale, beet greens, sugar peas, basil, dill and pulled my first carrot for the cole slaw we were making for supper. That was the first carrot I've grown in years and it was perfect at about 6-7 inches. It sure added some great flavor to the slaw which was delicious and also made from a cabbage I grew. The garden is starting to peak all except for the Brussel sprouts. They have formed throughout the plant but are not getting very big. They are not a fan of hot weather and that is what we got today warm and muggy so Nancy turned the a/c back on. The skies have been overcast and we did get some thunder storms late in the evening with some rain.

I grilled a couple salmon fillets and along with a sweet 'tater and cole slaw we had a delicious supper. After the clean up we chilled to the living room for the news and then watched a little of the Olympics before it was shower time and lights out around 11, LATER
