Well Friday was such a beautiful spring like day. The morning started with temps in the high 50's and nearly reached 70 by the late afternoon. I wondered around outside without a shirt on after getting ready to head out for supper with our "mountain mom" Helen and her brother Joe and sister Martha around 4 PM. It was such a nice day with bright sunshine and beautiful blue Carolina skies. A slight breeze made for comfortable working conditions all day.
We started the day after 8'ish as during the night we were awakened by the howling wind that blew down trees in the area but none fell our way. There were dried pine needles, cones and leaves everywhere especially in the front yard which I have raked and mulched twice. Looks as if that will happen again next week. We fixed our respective breakfasts after our quiet times and it was nearly 9:30 as I made soft boiled eggs and grits. Yeow home grown eggs from neighbor Gerald's 4 chickens are delicious. We love to watch them as they range into our yards in the evening scratching for insects and worms.
Gerald and I pulled down a large dead tree with his tractor that was leaning out over the driveway in the afternoon. Nancy and I got our hike in to the top of the mountain and the views were just great. The wind over night piled leaves up on the back road ankle deep in places and it's kind of fun to be kicking through them as we hike. I came back and ate the last of the leftovers for lunch and then blew leaves into a huge pile so I could use the push mower and mulched them for the upper garden. It was just great to be outside working in the fresh air and bright sunshine with temps in the 60's.
I checked my e-mail around 3:30 after basking outside shirtless and suddenly the laptop shutoff and then after restarting it displayed a fatal system error, yikes. I wasn't able to get on Windows as it kept displaying this message. I shut it down and called "Tim the techman" who Helen's uses when she has Internet problems. He agreed to come out on Monday to check out the problem; in the meantime we all when out to eat and after dessert they left for home. I decided to check the laptop once more to see if the down time made any difference and it sure did. I was able to get back on Windows and once more we were in contact with the outside world. Everything seems to be working properly and if it continues I will cancel him and let my son-in-law check it out next week when we get back to Florida. Oh well!!! It's nice to know there is someone available who will come to your house for technical support for these types of problems.
Well that was about it for the day as we chilled watching the tube and on Face Book until it was shower time and eventually read until lights out at 11PM. We will set the clocks back tonight(Saturday) and it will get dark even earlier. We have a busy day today at Cornerstone as we will help in the kitchen for the 10th homecoming supper. We like to stay for this event each year as we say our good-byes after the service, LATER
