Sunday Morning June 1st

Well Saturday was another total work day that started with a 5'ish rollout to my usual routines that begin with some quiet times to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day but also for being here at our cabin in the mountains of N.C. as well as to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All seems to be holding with this post although some we haven't heard from in several days. After a breakfast of avocado toast with an egg and some olive oil and a left over brat I headed out to check on the gardens and yards and wouldn't you know it a dad gum deer has already walked through my recently rotor tilled back garden where I had some herbs and Swiss chard. It didn't as of yet eat anything but they are letting me know they are still here and checking my garden out for later consumption, so I ordered a couple solar animal deterrent electronic devices that emit a sound and a light with a motion detector. I think  wait until they arrive before setting out the rest of my veggie seedlings.

I fired up the weed whacker and edged the whole property as well as the paths around the fire circle and what a difference doing that, made the gardens and yards look great. That kept me busty for a couple hours as I needed to rest a couple times from going up and down the yards. I certainly felt my flatlander legs despite playing pickle ball almost every day for the last couple of months. It was close to lunch time before I finished the edging, so I took a break for a lite lunch of salad topped with left over cold chicken.

After an hour of digesting I headed out to finish weeding a couple of flower beds when neighbors Shirley and Elaine came by for a visit. It was another break time which had us catching up on all that's been going on here as they both are full time residents just this past year. They told us about the huge ice storm that downed not only tons of trees and limbs but left them with out power for several days. I did notice several tress that have fallen along our driveway that will need some attention once I get the place in shape and after company leaves who arrive a week from yesterday. We made plans to get together with them in the coming weeks and as they started to leave on their golf cart their rear tire was flat. So I loaded up my small air compressor and filled their tire but it was quite evident of a hole in the tire which could be plugged once they got back down off the mountain to their cabin which is the first you come to in our private road.

Well it was a very windy day with squalls up to 50 mph which kept it on the chilly side. Nancy had the heat on at times and I wore a couple of shirts despite working outside in the bright sunshine. It did cloud up and give us a heavy shower towards evening and with that front it calmed the winds down considerably. I grilled some ground venison as burgers for our supper that neighbor Gerald had blessed us with last year as its now about gone from our freezer, but he promised me some more when he gets back up to cabin as he hunts my property. Its no wonder the meat is so delicious because of eating my gardens in the summer time, oh well.

We caught up on Amy and Tyler goings on and he helped me get back on the MLB Network so I could watch the Tampa Bay Rays in real time on my laptop and they were beating the Astro's 16-3..WOW. It was around 8 that we both hit the showers as she had an HGTV show coming on and I read until lights out for me at 10'ish. Today is corporate worship day at Cornerstone and it will be great to hug so many and feel the love of so many we have come to know over the past 30 some years. One of our dear lady friends passed away this year and she will be missed, LATER
