Sunday Morning Sept 5th

Well Saturday found us with some sad somber news as our nephew John passed away from this insidious virus. He was such a young strong guy who was the splitting image of Hank Williams, Jr. He left his wife, two sons and a grand daughter. His mom was the second daughter of the man who raised me whom we call Paw Paw who by the way is in his 90's and doing as well as can be expected with his health issues.

Nancy has the virus as well after I tested her on Friday and we found out the hospital in Elkin just off the mountain was giving the anti bodies in an infusion for anyone who tested positive. So on the advice of our kids and friends in the medical field I took her down and sure enough they gave her the infusion through her veins much like giving blood. I had not heard of this but there were lots of folks waiting to receive it as well as many friends from church who we saw there, both coming and going. We think the benefit on Sunday at church is where all of us caught the virus as those we saw at hospital were at the benefit.

Nancy is suffering from aches, runny nose and a cough but having no issue with her lungs as of now. I'm staying away from her as much as possible and taking precautions and thus far its working; however I must have been exposed as was she. Anyhow so far I'm doubling up on the vitamins especially C, D3, zinc and some supplements.  My smell and taste are still good but Nancy's has altered as most things taste very salty to her. We both have been sitting in the direct sunshine as much as possible which is supposed to help fight it.

Our church here in the mountains cancelled the get together meeting in person for this week as so many have now come down with being positive. We will listen online and stay quarantined as much as possible for at least a couple weeks according to the hospital where Nancy got the infusion. Luckily we have no one scheduled for the next couple of weeks plus its a good time to start eating down our freezer and cupboards. We have about 8 weeks or so before we start packing up and heading back to Florida for the winter.

The weather here is almost perfect with low's in the 50's and a couple 40's to start the day and highs in the low 70's with plenty of sunshine. I got in my early morning non stop hike to the top of the mountain after my quiet times and a talk with my Creator and Lord. I ask Him to spare John but He had better plans. If John would have survived he was in for some debilitating lung issues which would have affected his quality of life for ever; so who am I to question the results.

I stopped and picked up Chick Filet on the way home from the hospital after being there for 4 hours or so, which is always a treat and that was our lunch/supper. I sat on the deck and watched the Ray's on the laptop destroy the Twins in an early game. The weather was perfect at times but clouds moved in before dusk and the threat of rain was obvious. I finished a great historical novel on the battle of Midway Island between the much defeated American naval fleet after Pearl Harbor and the mighty Japanese fleet. This book goes into the much before the  battle and how some in the Navy were able to decode the Japanese plans to take Midway and use it in their plans to destroy the USA. It's an awesome read titled EAGLE CLAW from both sides and the thinking by the admirals and their plans and into the actual battle. We all know this was a turning point in the battle for the seas and eventually the war when we destroyed 4 of their aircraft carriers.

Well that was about it for Saturday as after a hot shower and handful of vitamins I hit the sack around 10'ish. Since Nancy is now sleeping upstairs so as to spare me her germs I read for another hour on a new Jack Reacher book, LATER

Here is what Nancy was infused with to help her body fight this virus.
