Well at least the real cold has stayed away for now. It was some what overcast for most of the day but the temps were moderate, just right. Not too hot and neither too chilly. I still wore shorts and a tee shirt while working out side after my 2 hours at the Rec on the pickle ball court.
The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot greet tea while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator and Lord in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name for comfort and healing. I did wish Paw Paw a happy 93 rd birthday but he is so hard of hearing its difficult to have a conversation with him. He sounded chipper on the phone and Pat said he was doing o.k. I sent him a Cracker Barrel gift card as he loves their chicken and dumplings. Everyone else seems fine to the best of my knowledge.
I played hard and constant for two solid hours of pickle ball at the Rec with really good players. Just good exercise and the play was the best in quite awhile. We had 6 players and on any given day anyone of us would win. I managed to win with a different partner throughout the morning as it was that well matched. I pedaled home to work in the gardens. Once again pulling and hoeing some weeds and grasses that spring up over night. Most all of the recently transplanted seedlings are holding their own as well. I noticed the carrots have broken ground which is a great sign. I still have chicken wire spread over them to keep the squirrels for digging and burying acorns. We are going to have plenty of leafy greens in a couple weeks as the kale's and lettuce's are showing more leaves.
I pulled this difficult vine type weed that grows and tries to take over the back yard. It's very strong and grows in the grass and the roots are a foot long. They nearly cut your hand pulling them out and oh do they ever spread. I spent an hour on my hands and knees working a small area to rid this weed but I have a long ways to go. What a job and my hands are so sore from that chore. Nancy was off shopping again and my discover account is showing so, oh well. I can't take it with me so might as well give it away now. We also made a pledge to help with the purchasing of the new building for our Bridgepoint Seminole Church campus. I'm excited to be a part of this out growth to reach folks for Jesus. We had a great core group of volunteers at the college and I know many have moved on to other venues because of the refusal of our church to open up services at the main campus since the college shut us down forever, anyhow we now have our own campus once again. I think its slated to open in January.
We headed out after a light supper around 5'ish to Keswick School to watch Ava play basketball. She is a starter and plays as hard as anyone I've ever seen. She is the top rebounder and assists with lots of scoring. She isn't a great scorer yet, but does add so much to the team. If she keeps up her love and attitude for the game she will go far at this school as she is an 8th grader on a 9th grade and up team. She plays very hard and isn't afraid to get into the mix. They won by 30 points again and are undefeated against a public school team. We made a Sam's run for gas at 2.01 and then a stop at Publix as we are having everyone for a supper of burgers and dog's. We are keeping the boys for most of the day as Bobby and Katie do some fun things with friends over at the down down museum and wharf in St.Pete, LATER
