Well Thursday was a really nice day with warm temps into the upper 60's, plenty of sunshine and blue skies until the late afternoon when the overcast skies appeared and the temps dropped down into the 30's this morning.
Thursday found me here at the cabin catching up on some chores and relaxing with everyone gone for the day. The gals took off once again shopping in Elkin and Sparta while Patrick was on his laptop and Dan on his device. I loaded up the loose gravel in the upper driveway to the tune of 4 loads in the golf cart and then spreading them in the circle drive which was thin on gravel. The loose gravel made for lots of the spinning of tires coming up the hill.
The Tracy's passed on the opportunity to buy a really neat and nice cabin with 10 acres of land. I'm not sure what they are really looking for and when. They do seem to love this area and talk of renting a place long term, Oh well.
We ate high on the hog again with a marinated Salmon fillet, a vegetable basket loaded with squashes, onions, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and red, yellow and green peppers rolled in olive oil and cooked on the grill all accompanied by a fresh garden salad. After the clean up we got into one game of 5 Crowns with Nancy winning again. We decided to watch TV. It wasn't long until it was a staggered shower time so we had plenty of hot water. I hit the sack around 10'ish as many had already headed up the stairs.
I did manage an early morning hike alone and then Nancy and I got a hike in together to the top of the mountain. The views were awesome and the new construction is moving right along with the walls up and the under siding on as well. They hope to have it under roof before winter sets in so they can work inside during the cold months.
Well that's about it for the day. I'm not sure what is planned today Friday but Dan and I were going on a float down the New River but I think the cold will prevent that from occurring especially if you get your butt wet getting in the kayak, LTER
