Sunday Morning August 2nd

Well Saturday was basically a work day around the cabin. We did take an afternoon hike to the top and then later a golf cart ride back to the top and then out to the mailbox. The rain held off for another day although the morning dew was very heavy which kept the grass wet until early afternoon. We ate somewhat light for the day with a garden salad for lunch and then half runner green beans and corn on the cob for supper. Wow, they were the best beans yet this year.

I started the day much the usual with a 6 ish roll out to the dew dripping from the dormer down onto the tin roof breaking the silence of the quietness of the morning. I did my morning routines which start with the cup of tea then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord lifting up several by name for comfort and healing. All seem as well as can be expected me included as the back seems to be getting better but there is that dull ache where the disc is worn out which I can manage for now. At times I don't notice it but other times its quite annoying but nothing like it was when it first started to hurt, oh well.

We got word our "mountain moms" microwave went on the blink while cooking some corn on the cob so we will head back to Galax on Monday to help her find one she wants. After a light breakfast of a fried egg sandwich I headed out to piddle around in the gardens until Nancy was ready to tackle the bedroom closet. She wanted me to build her a shoe rack and we got the main components at Lowes which is the strip you screw to the walls then insert these 12inch slats into the strip and then just add boards on top. I had plenty of scrap boards from long ago projects but the big job was sorting and getting rid of clothes we haven't worn in many moons. I had enough shirts to fill a garbage bag which we will drop off at the store in Sparta after church for the needy or what ever they do with donated items. I think they do sell them at a low price for those less fortunate. That project turned out nice and Nancy was thrilled she now has a shoe rack for her many pairs instead of having them in a shoe bag.

The wild flower beds are producing some beautiful flowers and the zinnias bed is bursting with lots of blooms. The garden continues despite the cut worms now taking out another okra plant. I dug around the base of the stalk and squashed it. It was a very large plant and the worm was large enough to cut it off at the base. I have the worst luck growing okra here for some reason. I harvested a couple more cucumbers and another zucchini, so we will have zucchini pie again this week which is definitely one of our all time favorite casseroles. Well that was about it for the day as it was rather boring around the cabin. We did stop and speak with Debbie and Joey who bought Norm's old place on top of the mountain and they are waiting to see the start of the new construction on her folks place just down the road. This new house has an awesome view and we too are excited for the construction to begin, LATER

Bobby sent us pics of the boys in the pool and a video of Ryder now crawling everywhere. Huck is just a little behind on motoring around on all fours but he will soon catch up. Huck always has a smile no matter what.
