Thursday Morning Apr.2nd

Well I always get Nancy every April Fools Day and yesterday was no different although she was programed when she got up and came into the spare bedroom/office where I do my morning quiet times/social media/computer work. Well I knew she was waiting for me but I diverted her attention with something on FB then said"hey what happened to your leg". Well she fell for it and looked down and it was another gotta first for another year, oh well.

I started the day with my usual routines that begin with of course the vitamins/supplements washed down with the cup of hot green tea and then the posting of this ramble. Afterwards I spent some quiet time with my Creator and Lord in thanksgiving while lifting several up by name for comfort and healing. I especially lifted up our nation and our potus Trump and the military and members of the badge family of which I've been a member of both over my life time. Our nation is at a turning point both economically, socially and in harms way with this insidious virus that started in China and has been spread to our nation through open borders and the lack of the congress to do their jobs; and that is to keep us folks safe and secure. It's a down right shame we have an elected body that cares only about power and their mission to destroy this nation by destroying our duly elected potus.

There was a big change in the temps with day starting off in the 60's and it stayed in the 70's for most of the day with a stiff breeze out of the north which made it feel even colder. We opened the windows and doors and aired the place out all day long. It the first time the a/c has been off all day and night in many moons. I've been waiting for the trees to leaf out and the fuzzies to vacant the house and the roof and with the stiff breeze it helped with cleaning the flat roof area of the house. I headed to Home Depot to pick up an additional 5 gallons of the Kool Seal roof paint and with the half a bucket of the same stuff from a couple years back I headed up to the roof for the next 4-5 hours.

I wore out two rollers and broke a paint stick which made it easier applying the white roof paint but I used the entire contents on sealing the seams and painting the roof. Hopefully it will help keep the inside of the house cooler during the heat of the summer by reflecting the sun's rays as well as preserving the fabric of the flat roof. I usually have to cool the roof down with a bean sprayer of water but despite the sunshine the roof stayed cool with the breeze and the temps which made for a perfect day to be on the roof. I still had to wear sun glasses and visor as the glare was severe.

On a sad note we were scheduled to visit Bobby and the family on Friday but Nancy's sister Betsy stopped Tuesday evening to show Nancy something but stayed in her car. I gave her a sack of collards and lettuces as well but stayed away from the car. Well during the night she became violently ill, throwing up, diarrhea and in severe stomach pain and she learned when she went to work the next day that two co-workers had the same symptoms over night; well we do not want to bring that to the boys on Friday in case Nancy was compromised by the contact with Betsy, so we cancelled until maybe Sunday afternoon. I also cancelled pickle ball and will probably forego any action for a spell as the governor has issued a stay at home edict on any unnecessary travel as well. I'm sure the park that has been hosting outside pickle ball play will lock its gates as well.

Well I had some of the smoked kingfish spread on crackers for lunch and we ate leftover zuppa soup for supper. I piddled around in the gardens taking out the old tomato plants that really did not do well. We maybe got a couple dozen fruit before they went south. I noticed the roots did have nematodes and the volunteer tomato plants have now set fruit. They look to be cherry tomato's but I'm surprised they have set fruit so soon. I sowed marigold seeds in the hole with the seedlings in hope that will thwart the pesky root sucking microscopic worms which are prevalent for Florida because the ground never freezes. The EPA took the killing solution off the market a few years back and ever since I haven't grown a good tomato due to the nematodes, oh well.

I picked 4 cukes yesterday and have several more maturing. It time to start giving these away as well. We were hoping to take lettuces, collards, radishes, carrots and cukes to Bobby's tomorrow but that has changed until maybe Sunday. Hopefully it stays cool for another couple days which helps in preserving the leafy greens. I got in a bike ride after supper for some cardio especially coming home into the stiff cool breeze. I never would have thought it would be this chilly in April as we have had some miserable hot and humid summer days already. Nancy had her on line women's group from 6:30 to 8:30 so I stayed outside hand watering the gardens and both front and back yards, LATER
