Well our guests for the weekend arrived mid morning and it's been non stop talking, eating and game playing since then until bed time around 11'ish. Yikes what a grand time getting to meet Nick for the first time and of course Jamie has always held a soft spot in our hearts for her. There is a marriage on the horizon for them as she is a couple years older and despite her professional career of a traveling doctor of physical therapy she is getting the motherhood notion and would like to settle down in one area.
We got in a great hike with their two large dogs which had to be leashed because one was a rescue dogs and a hound mix and loves to chase anything that moves and the other large lab is a big baby. Its too bad they could not be allowed to run free but they were afraid they may take off and not return after a chase or lose their way. These two are their babies and they do mother them.
After the long hike which tired out their pups we settled into some game playing which started with domino's, golf and then dice all before supper. I grilled marinated chicken breasts and had a basket of squash, peppers and onions on the grill while Nancy had her speciality of oven taters in the oven and a fresh garden salad to top the meal off with. We all passed on the flowerless cake until today Sunday as we were full.
We slept late this morning or at least until nearly 7 AM and since they weren't leaving until after lunch we skipped any church service at Cornerstone, so we will watch on line our BridgePoint service later today as their dogs were not comfortable being in a new place. The dogs were great in the house but they would not let them run free as the one was a deer chaser and would take off. Nick and I took them for a long morning hike before breakfast and we jumped up two large deers and a couple wild turkeys which the one dog wanted to chase.
We had a breakfast of venison sausage, eggs, muffins and toast with tons of coffee. Afterwards we sat around and talked then we decided to teach them the game of Euchre. We also needed to take pictures when the dogs needed to go out for a potty break so we suspended the game with Nick and Nancy up 9-6 and finally conceded them the victory when we decided to have the dessert from last night we didn't eat. They also had more strong black coffee with theirs and we talked and shared stories for the next couple hours before they left around 2:30. It was a fun time renewing an old acquaintance and getting to meet and know Nick. Since Jamie is a traveling therapist which is very good paying job but it does have some draw backs as they both move around a lot. He works remotely from home so they do have a constant source of income and a dog sitter as well. They aren't sure where their next assignment is but there is an opening in Eugene, Oregon and they both love that area of the country, LATER
Here a couple pics of the pumpkins we picked up on Friday from Melia Edwards place and the some of Nick, Jamie and the big black lab Titus and the hound Ringo.
