Wow it's time to build an Ark. We have just been inundated with rain that at times are gully washers but it could be snow if it wasn't in the 60's or warmer. Thankful for that. This wet weather has been the focus for the past few days which seems like weeks and there is local flooding with some streets under water as well as some local damage to structures from the wicked storms and wind.
Thursday found me starting the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and fresh ginger root while I posted this ramble then lifted up several by name for healing and comfort. All seem well at this time. The rain was heavy this morning there was a river flowing down our street at one time into the manholes. I of course drove to the rec. around 9'ish for two plus hours of pickle ball. Thankfully most of the B and beginners stayed away as we only had two courts in the gym that stayed dry as the roof there, leaked at times. I headed out around 11:30 for the barber shop and had my ears lowered before heading home. There was no one ahead of me for a change as the rain seemed to keep everyone inside.
We had a lite lunch then Nancy decided she needed to do some shopping so out she went in the rain for a couple hours while I stayed home and read. I'm just about 2/3 of the way through this second book which is a thriller of the Red Sparrow trilogy titled the Palace of Treason. I'm looking forward to picking the third book hopefully today if the rain lets up. I may need something to do on the Ark.
Amy and her family came around 6'ish for a supper of baby back ribs done in the oven and really I liked them better than on the smoker. Seems the smoke now gives me a little indigestion and I really grow tired of the burping of the wood smoke in the left overs; anyhow they were delicious despite the lack of any garlic in the rub as Tyler has now become allergic to garlic. Nancy had a dish of seldom prepared scallop taters and fresh green beans as well as a fresh garden salad. I'm not sure if the garden is going to survive all of the rain as the lettuces are looking sad. Amy brought fresh rolls as well as a Village Inn lemon pie, yeow was that ever delicious.
We had the kiddos open there many packages. Way too many in my estimation but Nancy goes way beyond the norm, oh well. Ava needed clothes and we blessed her and Sam with many while Lee lee received lots of dolls, toys and a few clothes. They left around 9'ish with all of their bounty which they all seemed very appreciative. We blessed Amy and Tyler with funds to help with their trip to see his family on Saturday in Kansas.
I hit the shower after the cleanup then watched the Lightning getting whupped in the first period in Calgary, Canada. The rain continued to fall throughout the evening and then again this morning, LATER
