Sunday Morning

Well Saturday found us running around for most of the day visiting and then looking for a barber so Patrick could get a haircut before heading north this Sunday morning. We did get into looking at a couple of cabins off the Blue Ridge Parkway that were for sale. While they were rather modern they were built on a ridge over looking the deep valley near Fox Hunters Paradise they had no or very little yard and the inside living space was small as well. I must say the views were awesome for distance and beauty. One is actually seen as you travel south on the parkway.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my routines of a cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and fresh ginger while I posted this ramble then spent some time with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. Since we had over night company Nancy decided on starting the day with a huge "mountain breakfast" that started once everyone came down from upstairs. The outside temps had dropped overnight due to the rain last evening and later in the day we opened the down stairs windows after getting home from our travels. This morning the temps are in the 50's yeow so we closed the windows as the cold air enveloped the down stairs to start the morning.

We visited the cabin owners where our guests will be renting starting the end of July for a couple of months, actually they will be renting both of the cabins on this property as they have family coming from different areas of the country for extended visits. They have rented this same cabin every summer for the past 4-5 years and they only stayed with us for a few days as they journey around the country before settling down for sometimes months at a time. They are looking to buy something in this area but time will tell as each year we look at places. They just love out place and ambiance but ours is very unique and it will be hard to find one like ours because of all the work we have done to make it different, anyhow they will be gone to Canada for a couple weeks before coming back to the area until October.

We headed to Galax as the local barber closed at noon and we missed him by 15 minutes. We dropped the gals off in the old town section before heading to Walmart where Patrick had his ears lowered after a 30 minute wait. We did a little shopping as they needed a few small things for their trip. We called the gals and they met us outside the dropping off point and we headed back up the parkway to stop and visit these cabins that were for sale before heading home around 4'ish. Since the big breakfast of sausage, eggs and huckleberry pancakes had held us all day long our tummy's were growling so we cut some cheese, olives, cucumbers and crackers before we put together our supper. We had a little vino in the waiting and I decided to teach them the game of Spades. They were really interested to learn the game and the guys prevailed in the first game. We had planned on a second game after supper but Kathryn was tired and hit the sack around 8:30.

I grilled cut up veggies; zucchini, yellow squash, onions, mushrooms and red and yellow peppers in a grill basket with olive oil and then marinated chicken breast along with fresh corn on the cob for our supper. We sat outside on the deck which was a perfect evening for dining outside. The temps had really dropped so we open the windows and doors to let in the fresh air. Nancy made a delicious peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top for our dessert, yeow what a feast. The Tracy's were still recovering from the all night drive so they hit the showers then the bed. We ventured outside checking on the gardens and flower beds until dark then we too hit the showers and I was ready to read until 10'ish. Nancy came to bed sometime later in the evening after watching Dr. Pol on the tube, LATER
