Thursday Morning

Well Wednesday was a work day with a hike thrown in later in the day. It was mostly cloudy but we did see some sunshine towards the late afternoon. The temps stayed down into the 70's for most of the day as well.

The day started with my usual morning routines; a 6'ish roll out to a cup of hot green tea with turmeric and honey while I posted this ramble and spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. The update on GG isn't good as she suddenly wasn't able to talk. She was cognizant and lucid but her speech was mumbled and no one could understand what she was saying so she was transported to the hospital by ambulance where she is under going all kinds of tests for this sudden inability to speak clearly. We suspect she had a mini stroke but she is able to move her hands, fingers and smiles with no facial affects and writes down what she wants, oh well we will see what happens over the next couple of days as they want to keep her for further observation and tests. We saw her on live video and she seemed to be in control of her arms and fingers with no drooping to the face.

We had a semi mountain breakfast with biscuits, bacon and eggs which held us to suppertime. I headed out shortly after eating to the backwoods yard where I had a large patch of the green moss with no grass growing. I loaded up the golf cart with my tools and headed back to work that area for the next couple hours. I raked out two golf cart loads of the moss and hauled it away as well as headed to my dirt pit where I dug out two golf cart loads of good dirt. After raking the moss I stirred up the ground and sowed grass seeds along with some organic fertilizer then covered the seeds with dirt. Hopefully the seeds with sprout and I can rid that area of the moss. I filled in a couple of other areas in the backwoods yard with dirt that was rough to mow over.

Nancy had a load of laundry on the line and then she finally got off the phone with Miami. She spends 6-8 hours a day on the phone and no wonder she is stressed between checking on her mom, speaking with both of her siblings and of course our Amy as well as our friends here in the mountains. We took off on a hike to the top of the mountain and she call two calls while on our hike. We heard this constant large motor noise and saw where Norm's old place is getting a well drilled. Seems he shared a well with a neighbor and there was some issues with that, so before they can sell his place he needed his own well. Several neighbors on top share a community well which I would think is a non selling point. We stopped and visited with Joe and Jetta for a few and once again she blessed us with a beautiful large tomato and a green pepper. Her tomato's are huge this year and the peppers were so plentiful on one plant it broke a large stem off with 4 peppers.

My garden is still growing despite it being a late one. The green beans are up about 2-3 feet on the wire fence. The Sevin dust around the Swiss chard seems to be working for now as I lost no more seedlings overnight. I keep it hoed as the weeds love this weather. We are forecasted for rain the next several days so I put the hose up from my hand watering. My garlic patch is doing great so far as well. Hopefully I will get a good harvest next summer.

Well that's about it for today as I fried up some beautiful fish for our supper; unfortunately they were store bought but did taste a lot like fresh bass. We sat and read for an hour before starting supper and had a glass of vino, LATER
