Well Thursday was a work day until late afternoon when our friends Patrick and Kathryn arrived from Florida who are renting a cabin in Sparta for the next couple of months. I had the smoker loaded with applewood and ribs and Nancy had been in the kitchen all morning making preparations for supper. I fired up the weed whacker while the grass was still wet from the overnight dew and outlined all of the gardens, trees and the whole perimeter of the cabin. It was after 1 before I finally completed the mowing and weed whacking.
We settled down around 5'ish to a glass of vino with con caso dip and salsa while the ribs cooled from the smoker. I fired up the grill and roasted 4 ears of fresh corn in the shuck and we commenced to partake of the ribs which fell out of the bones while taking them off the smoker racks. Yeow, were they ever tasty and cooked to perfection and the cool potato salad was such a compliment to the fresh corn as well. We feasted and then settled in to digesting while Patrick and I did the dishes. He does them in his house and I'm so glad he is a willing participant when it comes to cleaning up when we have them over as well.
We watched a little of the little league game then he and I decided to hike to the top of the mountain. The girls came up later in the golf cart. We visited with several on top until nearly dusk before heading down. The Bucs were playing on TV so we settled into that for a quarter or so while having ice cream and cookies for dessert. That filled me to the brim again and I need to stop that after today but they love their sweets so I must be strong and reject it, oh well. Seems we are heading over to West Jefferson this evening for an outside concert and then supper out as well while the girls do some shopping, oh well.
Nancy was on the phone and video chat with her mom and Diane in Miami as well as with Betsy until the late hours of the night. I was whupped after that last hike and was soon in a hot shower and ready for horizontal lab. I did watch the Bucs into the third quarter who was leading 12-0 over the Jaguars, LATER
