Well Monday was another beautiful day with great temps and no humidity although one could feel its presence slowly slipping back into the area and by late evening or bedtime we once again engaged the a/c. We had spoken to our "mountain mom" earlier and she said the day seemed to be one of the coldest of the winter with the high winds and down into the 20's, yikes what a difference 700 miles make, oh well. The snow is gone and the really cold temps will begin to moderate there over the next few days.
I started the day with my usual 6' ish roll out and then to my routines of a few minutes of quiet time to honor my Creator, lift up by name those I know and love and humble myself and then posted this ramble before eating a lite breakfast and then riding out to the Rec. on my bike. I got in two hours of continuous pickle ball play and left with a wet shirt. I made a stop at the library on the way home. Nancy had driven her mom, GG to the doctors for a checkup and now she was waiting for Amy to drop Eliza off while she grocery shopped. I piddled around in the garden until it was time to pick up GG then brought her back to the house for lunch. I cut her and Amy a bag of lettuces as its quickly starting to bolt and the Bibb lettuce is just perfect in size and so good to look at.
Nancy was volunteering at ETC at 12:30 so she dropped GG off at home and then I had the rest of the morning and afternoon. I patched my wooden pickle ball paddle as a chunk was knocked out the other day by another player and then I sanded them down an applied a coat of urethane. I'm still the only player who plays with wood paddles which are much heavier than most of the composites; but I've adapted and my play so far is rather consistent which lots of power shots. I hand watered the gardens after picking another colander of green beans. I saw my first cucumber which will be large enough to eat either today or tomorrow and I noticed a few more at a couple of inches in length. The vines are so healthy looking and just loaded with blossoms. I gave the neighbor a handful of my less than stellar and tasteless tomato's. This is the last year I will plant volunteers of which I have several now erupting from the compost pile. I'm almost hesitant to bring any to the cabin this summer for my garden there.
I deadheaded my marigolds and saved the seeds for replanting here in the Florida garden to help with keeping the pesky nematodes out while we are away this summer. After a lite lunch of salad I headed into the reading room for the next couple hours and even took a 10 minute power nap. Ahh, it was so quite around here and the breeze from under the big oak felt great. Nancy got home around 5'ish and I grilled bone-in pork chops with fresh rosemary on top and some fresh green beans from the garden flavored with just a little butter and garlic powder, yeow very tasty. After the clean up we settled into the Fox News channel and then eventually Bill O'Reilly before heading for the showers. It wasn't long afterwards around 10'ish I was ready for some horizontal lab as the sandman calleth, LATER
