Friday Morning (the first day of April)

Well Thursday was another hot and muggy day with temps into the upper 80's and plenty of sunshine. We were having our usual lunch crowd and then our small group at 7 to watch the TRUTH SERIES final session on community and what GOD said in his Word for us as Believers to do. The main storyline was the message Jesus shared in the deeds of the Good Samaritan and how he helped a person in need without regard to any social restraints placed on us by man.

The day started with my usual 6'ish roll out and then to my morning routines of spending a few quiet moments with my Creator and then the posting of this ramble before a lite breakfast and then a ride on my bike to the Rec. for a couple hours of pickle ball. We had three courts in action for most of the morning and I left with a wet shirt before 10. After a stop at the library I headed home to bless one of our military families with some lettuce and carrots. The husband is in the Coast Guard and they have two very young daughters. The mom had a difficult time starting their lawn mower so I got that running for her as well. She also is a small time gardener and has small patches of veggies growing around their house. I picked lettuces and kale to add to our salad bowl as well.

I headed back to the garden after cleaning and spinning the greens for the salad bowl. The clover is just gone crazy in the garden so I weeded them out and then loosened up the soil around many plants. I started another batch of rosemary from cuttings as the last two have made with green stalks showing good roots. I will dig these up and take some to the cabin and then give the rest away to family and friends. I also started another thyme plant and hope the roots take hold as I want to give one away and take one to the cabin as well. I noticed several small jalapeno's peppers have set so I should have plenty in the coming weeks. I think I will purchase one for this summer at the cabin as they are hard to start from seed.

GG was at the hairdresser so I picked her up around 11:30 and she stayed for lunch as well as did Amy and Eliza. Amy brought some delicious leftover chicken and noodles which were fabulous but just not enough of them. We finished the luncheon with fresh garden salad topped with my tomato's which are exploding. I'm losing as many as I get as they fall off the vine and overnight the bugs or worms attack them rendering them unusable. Oh well. I hate to use any insecticide so as to keep them organic. They just all of a sudden began dropping from the vine and I'm not sure why as I water at least once a day with the sandy soil that dries out so quickly. The cucumbers have 50 or more blooms and hopefully will start to set fruit soon. I have 5 plants and they are growing up the fence on chicken wire. I added another strand of wire today so now they can climb to 6 feet in height.

Well after our lunch gang left I settled into some reading before vacuuming the house as we were having our small group. I grilled; fresh mushrooms, zucchini squash, onions and tomatoes in our new grill basket and then a couple Salmon filets for our supper. Wow the flavor of the veggies was awesome as Nancy just lightly coated them in olive oil before grilling. After the cleanup we settled into our company arriving and it was after 9 before they left. I caught the last period with the Lightning who were losing on home ice to the Canadians 3-0. After a hot shower it was close to 10 so my eye lids were getting heavy and it was soon lights out for me, LATER
