Well Sunday turned out to be a memorable day as we heard an awesome message from the Book of Proverbs at BridgePoint Church and then ate a delicious meal as we celebrated our son, Bobby's 35th birthday with his kiddos and Katie his soon to be wife. The weather was perfect for a huge bike ride with the kiddos through the 'hood and then later playtime at the local park with all the kiddos as well.
I started the day with my usual 6'ish roll out and the house was chilly. So we ran the heat for a couple hours and then by lunch time we had the doors and windows open as the outside temps probably reached the low 70's with some nice sunshine. We rode with Dan to BridgePoint where I have a feeling we will make this body our home church when in Florida. We have tried several venues and find this pastor to be the one that best fits our thoughts. His speaking qualities are are awesome, simple and Bible based with no political correctness and we enjoy the praise music as its very upbeat and worshipful. The church has 4 services on Sunday with 3 during the morning hours and 1 during the evening. So far we like the 10 AM service but it is crowded with several hundred in attendance. There is talk after a new church plant takes place in downtown St. Pete to start one out our way in Seminole. We are excited about that as well as we were a part of the plant at Element Church in Tampa. The original church started in Kentucky several years ago.
We got home around 11:30 and had some tacos from the leftovers from the night before for lunch. I headed out to hand water the gardens and then mix up more epson salts for the veggies in a spray bottle. I learned the yellow leaves found on your vegetable plants are the result of magnesium deficiency and of course that must be why my cucumbers died after having so many blossoms and small nubbins. Epson salt sprayed on the plant will immediately take care of that problem as it's ingested through the plants leaves and stems membrane. I even headed up and sprayed neighbor Dan's tomato plants as it was showing some yellow leaves.
I vacuumed the house and helped with getting ready for Bobby and Amy's families. Tyler missed the big dinner as he was in Reston, Va for his job. I took all of the kiddos except Eliza on a bike ride through the 'hood. The older girls were awesome in their riding abilities but the boys are still on training wheels. I feel sure they will soon conquer that step. We rode for a mile or more through the back streets and when Bobby got back after a business meeting with some potential IBO's through Amway. We then took all of the kiddos to the park and let them climb on the equipment. Little Eliza Faye even climbed up on the high walkways and slid down the slides all by herself like the bigger kids. She was so proud of herself and did that over and over. She did ever thing the big kids did just not as fast. They had a great time for an hour or so and then they headed out into the back yard and ran around for another hour before supper was ready. What energy!!!
Well Nancy's chicken casserole was delicious and we have enough leftover for another meal despite sending some home with Bobby. The yellow rice and black beans were awesome as well. We had salsa and chips to get the juices flowing while sipping some vino. Nancy made a fresh peach and black raspberry cobbler which was the best combo ever. It didn't sound good to me which Bobby suggested it but it was delicious and several of us had seconds with a little vanilla ice cream on top of the cobbler which was still warm, Yeow!! We sat around and visited then gave all the kids bath's and showers as they all have school today and I'm sure they would all fall asleep on the way home.
Well that was about it except we watched the pro bowl which was a glorified flag football game. I don't really know the reason for the game as I saw several players from the same team during the regular season on different teams during this game. Hawaii is a great place to give these players who are stand outs during season a vacation; but with the money they make, why have a game? I think the big super bowl game should be the following week after the playoff's; why wait 2 weeks. I think it takes away from the final game with all the hype, oh well.
We talked about Bobby and Katie's wedding plans, the purchasing of their new house which is awaiting an inspection and the minor updates before moving in the week after they are married. We are excited for them and she is a lovely sweet person whom Annsley and Gabe adore. That will make the new marriage a blessing as well and we are excited for Bobby. There is still animosity from the past but that occurred while he was still in his former relationship so why stay in something that constantly brings strife. I've never seen him so relaxed and his old self confidence has returned. He is no longer walking on egg shells. Katie is a down home,
family gal and not pretentious at all. Both Nancy and Amy see the stark difference between his former and Katie and while it's a new relationship they both see a genuine feeling of love for Bobby and us. We are thrilled for him and them, LATER
