Sunday Morning

Well Saturday saw us with very warm temps once again with more humidity. We were in the low 80's but a nice breeze kept it bearable to be outside working. I did get a few honey-do's completed plus sanded and primed a small desk for grand daughter Ava Mae. I was outside for most of the day so I kept those pesky squirrels away as well which had them taking off into the trees whenever they spotted me. My BB gun reaches into the tree tops so I had them scampering every chance I got; maybe I wore them out as every time I headed out the back door they took off into the trees..

The morning started much the usual with my internal alarm having me up at 6'ish or just a bit before. After my cup of green tea with ginger root and turmeric I did a few quiet moments to honor my Creator and lift up those I know who need some special consideration. Afterwards I posted this ramble and grabbed a Macintosh apple and headed out to check on the gardens. We decided to stay at home because GG(Nancy's mom) has a small intestinal bug on Friday and of course Nancy drove her around and she felt as if she may have picked it up as well. Needless to say GG was much better today(Sat) and Nancy did alright as well despite some earlier concern.

I fed the garden with some of my "garden magic" which is major and minor trace elements. This organic powder sure makes a difference and while it is rather costly, initially it seems to be well worth the price. I've noticed those two Bell pepper plants that produced so well in the mountains and was uprooted and transplanted here have anywhere between 10-15 new buds and blooms per plant. The jalapeno plant hasn't come around yet but still looks healthy. Everything looks so green and healthy as I feed this powder to each plant every couple of weeks. Some time I just sprinkle a little around the plant and sometime I mix it in a bucket of water and pour it around the plants. My cucumbers which I have never had any luck growing here have multiple blooms and are starting to climb the trestle I built for them.

I harvested my first batch of Romaine lettuce along with tender beet greens and Swiss chard  to add to the salad Nancy prepared. The onions are multiplying as well as mountain neighbor Jetta Browning blessed us with some last summer and I saved a couple bulbs to grow here in my winter garden. I'm assured green spring onions for some time to come as once these mature you just place one from the batch back into the ground to regenerate. The tomato plants have set some fruit but are still growing higher as one has reached the top of the 5 ft. wire cage. I should have kale ready next week or so as well for the fresh garden salads.

Amy called and said she found an old fashion desk for 10 bucks for Ava so she can have her own desk for her school work. She brought it by for my opinion and I decided to refinish it for her and paint the knobs the color Ava prefers. I took the hand sander and worked it up for a coat of Kilz primer paint which transformed the desk. Today(Sun.) after church I will give it a coat of white semi-gloss paint then paint the drawer knobs a green for her while listening to the Bucs game. Working out under the big oak is a plus in this heat, plus it helps keeps the squirrels out of my garden.

Well I grilled a couple Salmon fillets and along with canned peas and yellow rice we had a delicious supper. After the cleanup we settled into the TV and watched the end of the Army/Navy football game. The Navy prevailed once again and I must comment on their helmets which had pictures of ships on them. Wow where they classy and the game was rather exciting as well if you were a midshipman; either way it was fun to watch the last quarter. I settled into the Lightning game and watched them lose as well to the Caps 2-1. The old knee held up great today despite being on my feet for most of it. I did take an hour or so and sat under the oak and read HAING NGOR -THE CAMBODIAN ODYSSEY. Wow what those folks when through during the communist regime of the Khmer Rouge. There was a movie titled The Killing Fields of which this main character actually played the part and received an Oscar for his acting in the movie. The book is an unforgettable story about one mans perseverance to live another day. Great read but not for the squeamish, LATER

Don't forget to take some time today and give thanks for the Blessing with others who share their beliefs in our Creator. I really think part of the reason we are such a terrible fix in this country is we have let the non-believer have the bully pulpit and dictate the norms which are anything but what are the Judeo-Christian values and beliefs. We must take back our country, honor our Creator and stand up for our Christian faith. We can take back our country if we confess, honor and seek healing for our land especially for our children and grandchildren and one way is to show that belief is by attending a church or place of worship that we choose. We must make that effort or we will be led to slaughter by the fanatics and never would I have thought that possible in this land; but we are seeing that now as our lack of leadership who I believe is part of the problem.
