Well Sunday turned out to be just another beautiful day with bright sunshine and blue skies. It was a bit nippy in the early morning hours but by the time we headed out for Calvary Chapel around 9:45 the temps had warmed up nicely. We heard a great message from Pastor Brian from the book of Galatians. We were warmly greeted as this was our second week in a row and met several new folks who had transplanted here from different parts of the country. We were sad to say good-bye as we will probably never see these folks again. But we were thrilled that the love of Christ is shared here on the left coast among these beautiful folks.
We stopped at an Italian style eatery in Truckee after church as the Ironman contest had all of the major roads blocked and were pleasantly surprised to find this "diamond in the rough" restaurant. The food was superb and plentiful and the lone barkeep, waitress and manager took great care of us as well. The salad bar was the best ever as was the soup and the other entrees. It was so good it held us the rest of the day and evening with just a small snack. We settled into the NFL and learned the Bucs were beating the Saints on their home field which to our amazement was wonderful, especially after last weeks whupping by the Titans at our place. There were some upsets and a couple really good games. It's so weird with the games starting around 10 in the morning here on the west coast.
Well Patrick and Kathryn attended a birthday party for their grand nephew so we held the fort down. Dan and Carol took off for Truckee to do some shopping so Nancy and I took a good 45 minutes or so hike here in these mountains. It was such a beautiful afternoon/evening. We got ready for today's early morning wake up around 5'ish for a 7 o'clock departure to the Bay Area. We spent a couple hours cleaning, washing clothes, packing and ironing. We will travel south and west down to Sacramento and then onto the area of Fairfield where I was stationed from 66-73 and the little town of Suisun City which is just next door. Maybe I can find the place we lived in for years when in the USAF and then where I bar tended during my college days in Sacramento.
We want to head over to Napa Valley now that the fires are under control and then down to San Francisco before heading down to the Monterrey Area and Big Sur. This will be a two night stay with three days of sight seeing and travel. Well that was about it for Sunday and we were talking that next week in Florida at this time is a busy weekend as well. We celebrate our grand kiddos birthday's, family dinners and then getting ready to head back to the mountains of North Carolina, LATER
