Well Monday started out dreary and wet but by 10'ish the sun came out and the skies cleared off and I was able to get a little work done around the gardens and the driveway. The inch and half of rain gully washer on Sunday once again caused deep ruts in the driveway so I loaded up some tools and smoothed that out and the headed down to the garden where despite it still being rather wet and muddy managed to straighten out many of the bean plants that got damaged when the strong wind blew over my bean poles. Yikes what a mess that was and I lost several plants but saved as many as I lost. I headed up into the woods and cut more poles and an anchor which I sank in a post hole so that won't happen again and then tied them off with baling twine.
Nancy was on the phone for what seemed like hours with our neighbor and friend Carol in Florida catching up on all the latest and what their plans are for this Shemitah(Jubilee year on the Jewish calendar) and what effect it may have on our lives if any. The world is in a mess with this lack of real leadership by our potus(Obama) and now the two recent scotus(supreme court) decisions that could and will have a cultural shock to those in our nation who are believers as well as the unheard about of debt we are incurring with this gov't out of control on borrowing to fund social giveaways. We are seeing some of that now with Greece defaulting on their loans and the banks there are limiting the amount of money that can be withdrawn, Yikes!! Many are pointing to the world in a mess with many countries now threatening us(USA)especially with Isis in the middle east, Russia and Iran. We see corrupt politicians and statesmen especially Hillary Clinton who have sold us out for the love of money and power and yet the uninformed and the mass media continue to let her slide on those issues as well as this inept administration. We now are inundated with race, police and flag issues which are masking the real problems of high debt, loss of influence in the world and the insanity that we want a deal with a country that openly states they want death to America and Israel. Wake up America!!!
I feel better now that I've had my say and if my grand children are still allowed freedoms and we are still a nation after I'm gone I hope they will say their grand father was courageous enough to speak the truth about what is happening to our once "shining city on a hill" of a country that was the best despite her faults in all of the world. Some how we have forgot our founders of this great nation and allowed those who hate the USA infiltrate the moral fiber of our principles, our government and our security that kept us safe. We have forgot GOD and the goodwill as a nation that was founded on the beliefs set forth in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. We now honor the "what was bad is now good mind set" and have people who only want handouts and no longer cherish the rugged individualism that once made us a nation of pioneers for good that set us apart from the rest of the world.
We had a great afternoon as we picked up Patrick and Kathryn and took them out to see the Bald Knob Farm House. We use to stay there before our cabin was complete and made many wonderful fun memories with others who we from time to time shared the place with. It's an adorable almost a 100 year old building with porches, yards and period furniture. The owners whom we know personally gave us the key and we wonder through the house and saw where an additional bathroom was installed several years ago. We met and got to know our dear friends the Dalton's there at one of the occasions sponsored by the owners. It's much a part of our coming to know and loving the people and area here in the mountains. Our old friend Daisy is renting the place for a week in August so I'm sure we will be there many times that week for visits to the grand old place.
Well after a stop at the grocery for a few items to compliment the delicious supper we were having at the Tracy's place along with Sam and Marcia. Patrick grilled chicken kabob's on skewers, along with brown rice and a fresh salad the dinner was complete except for a bakery red cake. Yeow we sat outside on their deck and watched the sunset over the mountain making plans for our September trip out west. Sam and Marcia has been to the Yosemite area many times and even hiked most of the highlights and they gave us some great points to help make our 2 day visit there complete. We will spent a night just outside the park and then do a 3 car caravan after traveling down from
Lake Tahoe the first day. We are excited and the pictures of the wonders of the mountains, rock formations, sequoia's and waterfalls are breath taking and we haven't even gotten there. We are pumped about seeing the area and then if time permits we want to see some areas where I traveled while stationed in the USAF during the 60's and early 70's, LATER
Just a note the morning glory vine is giving us quite the show with it blue blossom's and this morning we notice the first Rose of Sharon has a purple blossom as well. Many of Nancy's flowers are blooming and the cone flowers and daises are making a grand appearance as well. Such beauty is all around us as we have been having a good amount of rain and the rain barrel is nearly full from the roof's run off.
