Well Sunday was a great day of worship at Cornerstone in Sparta and one of our pastor's better messages on how joy will help you live your life to the fullest. The J stood for Jesus first, O for others second, Y for yourself last. This latest shock to our culture is just the complete opposite with the "political correct" crowd. Pastor B spoke about the Apostle Paul's incarceration in the Roman prison where he spent most of his time writing the New Testament. There were few dry eyes in the service with the closing prayer. Definitely once of his best heart felt messages.
We picked up Caleb and headed to the pizzeria afterwards to meet up with his mom, Mechelle for lunch. I stayed away from the hot bar and the pizza and just ate salad as they have a very nice salad bar. Its always fresh and has quite a variety. I did indulge and tried their pudding and a tasty homemade dessert on the bar. Yikes I've been eating a type of dessert almost every time we eat out. We skipped supper and just had a hand full of pistachios an a bowl of popcorn while watching the Last of the Alaskans show on the tube.
We took off around 5'ish and headed over to our "mountain mom" Helen beautiful place to cut down a small tree and remove it from her yard that had died then we headed out to her first lot as you enter her place to pick wild black berries. Wow was their ever an abundance and we picked a gallon or more in about an hour or so as we fought the briar's and stickers. It was rather nice temperature wise with it being only in the middle 70's and lots of clouds at the time. We want to make a batch of jelly to bring back to the kids and kiddos and I want to make a couple gallons of vino and let it set for a couple years in the cool basement. The last bottle I opened was the best homemade vino I have ever tasted and it set for 2 years in the basement, yikes was it ever delicious and I was surprised that I had made it, oh well!
We just chilled and relaxed piddling around the yard and flower beds and just taking in all of the beauty of the flowers after getting back to the cabin. We read for awhile and then I watched the Ray's come from behind and beat the Astros in baseball on the laptop. We spoke with Bobby to see how his new part time leading worship ministry went at a new church. He seemed to think it went quite well. Several of our friends also visited that church as well and was made welcome. We spoke with Amy and they were scheduled to get home some time around 11'ish from their 1500 mile trip from Kansas and that all was well. Many thanks to all who kept them in your prayers and thoughts for safe travel.
After a hot shower it was a few chapters in a new Lee Child book before reading the inside of my eye lids some time around 10:30. I'm not sure what time Nancy hit the sheets but Amy woke me up sometime around 11 as the phone rang( I was thinking I had accidentally set the alarm clock) to let us know they made it home safely, LATER here are a few pictures I took early Sunday morning as I wanted to get the beautiful blue Morning Glory's blooms.
