Well Monday was another hot and humid day here in sunny Florida and we never got the evening thunder storm which has started to become a daily occurrence this past week. Those rain storms sure help to cool things down. We were out doing some last minute shopping at Home Depot after dropping GG off at home around 4 and it was so blasted hot we just wanted to leave right then for the mountains and some cooler temps.
The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out and after my usual routines and a few quiet moments I got ready to ride out on my bike to the rec for two hours of workout on the pickle ball court with 10 other players. We had a challenge court in action which kept us in a constant state of action with long rallies and some hard playing. My shirt was soaked by 10 and I was whupped after being in action for such an extended period. I only have 5 or 6 more days of playing before hanging up the paddle with this gang for awhile. I credit this game with helping to keep me fit and healthy but I'm so looking forward to the clean air and distant views while hiking daily to the top of the mountain and the smell of over turned soil while getting my garden ready for planting. There will be no laying around after lunch reading the afternoon away at the cabin and of course everything done outside is walking around on a hillside or uneven land. My muscles will get a workout just from going up and down the steps in the cabin.
I got back to the house after a quick stop at the library in time to watch little Eliza Faye as Amy took GG grocery shopping. We had a fun time watching her kid videos on the lap top and then we read a couple books and by then Nancy got back from her workout on the treadmill at the rec. Eliza was so sleepy but we could not get her to nap until finally after lunch and lots of rocking she went down for nearly an hour and a half. She sure hates to miss any action by napping much like her mother. We always said if you want Amy to wake up, put here in bed!!! Oh well.
After a lunch of left over Zuppa soup for me that Amy made last week as was just so delicious. I'm the leftover eater as they all dined on deli meat sandwiches and Sam had his veggie plate and Eliza chowed down on leftover pasta noodles which she just adores. We settled into staying in out of the hot afternoon sun and heat until it was time to take GG home. We did a few little odd jobs for her before heading out to the Depot. It was going on 5 before we got home and it was time for a glass of vino before a cold supper of leftover rotisserie chicken on a bed of fresh salad, yeow was that ever delicious. After the cleanup we spoke with our mountain mom, Helen and her son Rick had left this morning to head back to Florida after a whirlwind week end there where they attended the Gray reunion in beautiful Black Mountain, N.C. It's been many years since I've been down to that area but its just as beautiful as our area is along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Well I tuned into FOX News and learned this incompetent administrations foreign policy has allowed for political reasons the fall of another major city in Iraq where American blood was shed in the fight against the tyrant Saddam and his forces. We liberated the country but failed to leave a peace keeping presence there for political reasons and now the terrorists have once again subjugated the locals. How did this incompetent bunch ever become the commander in chief along with his cabinet which included Hillary become our leaders and policy makers, oh well!!!
Well I tuned into the Lightning game and they were up 5-2 when I turned the lights out for some horizontal lab, LATER
