Well Thursday saw us with rather warm temps an ever increasing humidity which really is the culprit when it comes to a typical Florida summertime day. The evening did cool down some which made for pleasant conditions to work out side as well as is the early morning; but in between those times it can get rather uncomfortable outdoors. I started the morning off much the usual with a 6'ish roll out. After my routines and a few quiet moments I ate a lite breakfast before riding out on my bike to the rec for close to 2 hours or so of continuous pickle ball play. We had 3 courts in action and a few waiting to work into the game. The Good Life Games held the past couple of days in Clearwater saw most of the winners in our region came from the players from the Seminole Rec group. Wow, I knew we had some great players and the proof is in all the medals they brought back to our rec. Congratulations to all the winners.
After the rec I stopped off at the library and dropped off a book titled GHOST SOLDIERS by Hampton Sides. This is about the rescue of hundreds of POW's in the Philippines and the Bataan death march forced by the Japanese. Great historical read and one not for the faint of heart. I headed home to hand water the gardens and bare areas in the back yard. The grass is really showing some colors especially now that I've removed lots of the debris from the oak trees. The garden however is starting to show signs the heat is taking it's toll especially with the lettuces and sugar peas. I harvested several nice carrots and picked nearly a half dozen teardrop tomato's. Wow are they ever tasty on a salad.
Amy, GG and the kiddos all came for lunch and little Eliza Faye fell asleep in her car seat. We put her in the reading room and she slept for over an hour. I sat with her and read while she napped after eating a salad for lunch. After they all left around 3'ish Nancy took her mom shopping and so I read the afternoon away until it was time to head out and give the garden another hand watering around 5'ish. We decided to clean up the last of the roast pork, smashed taters and green beans from a few days ago for supper. Very tasty and not much of a clean up as well.
I headed out to work in the front yard pulling weeds and hand watering until nearly dark. We settled into the O'Reilly Factor at 8 and then I headed off to the bedroom to watch the Lightning lose in overtime in a good hockey game to Ottawa. The NHL playoffs should start in a couple days as the season will find them in the hunt for the elusive Stanley Cup trophy, LATER
