Friday Morning

Well Thursday was probably the coldest morning we have had in several weeks. There was no frost but that was attributed to the strong winds that made it feel colder than the actual 30's temps. We had frost a month or so ago but since then we have had the a/c on several times and this morning we had the heat on. It stayed nippy all day until late evening when the wind calmed and the outside air warmed to a balmy 62*. There was plenty of sunshine which helped despite the cold winds out of the north.

I started the day with a 6'ish roll out and after my quiet moments and a lite breakfast I bundled up with a sweater, a lite jacket and base ball cap for the 10 minute or so ride to the rec on my bike. Brrr is all I can say as the wind chilled me to the bone but after 2 plus hours in the gym the cold felt rather nice as I pedaled home. We had 2 full courts in action with advanced players and the action was fast with long rallies. Wet shirts were in abundance from several players and mine was soaking as well. I made a stop at the library to drop off a couple reads before heading home. The outside temp had warmed to the 50's by then so it wasn't too bad. I hung a load of laundry as the dry breeze quickly did the work of a dryer and the fresh smells were awesome from the air.

Nancy took off to the rec for her workout on the treadmill so I watered the gardens. Every thing survived the cold temps and the green leaf plants seemed to love the cold. The basil didn't look great as it does not like anything below the 40's. I did cover it with a towel and a bucket as I tried to save it by replanting it in the ground a week or so ago. For some reason this fall has not been a good season for growing sweet basil. The rest of the herb's are doing fine especially the cilantro, thyme and rosemary.

Well Amy picked up GG and along with the kiddos we had a lunch of fresh salad topped with some smoked turkey. Amy had a box of breaded mushrooms we baked in the oven and that was the first white flour in the breading I've had in several days as I downed a couple with some leftover homemade marinara sauce that Bobby had made for the pizzas last weekend. Wow was that ever delicious. We ate the leftover rotisserie chicken from Sam's along with fresh green beans for supper. My green beans which are half runners have climbed to the top of the 6 ft fence on chicken wire and are heavy in bloom. I hope this cold snap doesn't set them back too much. The leaves looked good as I made sure they had plenty of water during this cold spell. I learned the roots survive better when the soil is wet or damp during these cold snaps. It's supposed to warm back up to the high 60's and 70's today and for the beginning of next week, back to the low 80's.

Well I was disgusted with a dad who threw his young daughter off one of the bridges to the approach of the Skyway Bridge last night and she drown before being rescued. I use to work that area and know just what terror she must have experienced prior to her drowning and death. Our society or the media has changed the nature of our culture as we no longer value life and especially that of our children or those who are helpless. It all start's with killing our unborn in the womb with the so called women's choice movement that dehumanizes the fetus as not being a person. Now we fail to call those who want to kill us a terrorist because of some religious tenet. We no longer regard the life of the police who protect us from these societal maniacs but instead they're demonized in the media. Where is civility and common sense? We have let those who don't honor the principles and tenets this nation was founded on to be the norm and now we see the harm which is occurring to our nation. What use to be bad is now good in several facets of our culture and I fear for our grand children. We harbor those who enter our land illegally and make excuses for the those who are criminals as well as circumvent the vary constitution which made us a great nation at one time. We sure could use another Ronald Reagan to lead us from this malaise that has infiltrated our populace. It seems only one network has the courage to tell it like it is and of course that is the FOX Network. Even the satellite company like Dish is dropping that network to further limit the exposure of the real truth of the changes occurring in our society by the left or the liberals. Oh well just some of my thoughts an opinions on the down fall of our culture, LATER
