Well Saturday was a fun day with temps that reached the low 80's. A nice breeze made for mostly comfortable conditions except after a late afternoon hike to the top of the mountains which saw a little sweat on the brow. We were busy during the first part of the day as we awaited sister Dee and Mike to arrive.
It was somewhere around 2'ish when they made it after circumventing the Hillsville area due to the thousands who ventured out to what must the largest yard sale on earth. They usually like to travel the back roads from Roanoke which runs through that area and so they took off on roads which really slowed down their travel time. We had lunch waiting and all most started without them when they arrived. They brought beautiful picture perfect tomato's from their garden, corn on the cob and sweet peaches.
After a delicious lunch of chicken salad on homemade bread, pickles and chips we took off for the top of the mountain on a hike. We saw several folks on top who were up for the long weekend and made introductions. We headed back down to watch a little college football and sit and visit. The smoker was still smoking and the meat looked superb and despite the late lunch our mouth was watering for the smoked ribs and deer roast.
The ribs and deer roast were perfect and the corn on the cob was superb and along with the fresh salad and we had a feast. We decided to lounge around watching football until it was time to hit the showers and finally some horizontal lab around 11. We did Skype with Kelly, Jordan and little Eli after supper, LATER
