Well Thursday was a "go to town" day which meant the big city of Galax, Va. After a roll out around 7'ish and our regular morning routines we decided to get our hike in before it got too warm; plus we were meeting Patrick and Kathryn at 12:30 for lunch so we had some time to kill. I was scheduled for pickle ball at 6:30 in the evening and didn't want to hike just before heading to the courts.
We had a great early morning hike as the temps were just perfect in the high 60's and the ambiance was just so invigorating. Wow, the birds were singing and the mountains were showing their beauty with great views from on top. We stopped and visited with Jetta for a few before heading back down. We will look after their place for a week or so while they attend a reunion in Ohio. We see them most everyday and hope they have a great safe trip.
We took off for town and made a couple stops at the post office and the bank before meeting our friends at Las Torito(Mexican eatery) at 12:30. The food was delicious and we were out of there in an hour or less and off to gas up(no pun intended) before heading to the Wal-Mart Plaza. We did a look-see at the shoe store first before ending up to the big store where we loaded up once again with some necessities and goodies. I checked on new Michelin tires for the truck as these have 60K and still have 5/32's on the tread depth but a friend mentioned to Nancy that it looked as if we needed new tires and now she is paranoid and is constantly bringing that issue to the forefront. The good thing is the cost for them is a little less than 5 years ago which is hard to believe. The store in Galax will install them for me after they are shipped there in a couple weeks.
We headed home and chilled for a couple hours before I ate a sandwich around 5 just so I didn't have to play pickle ball on a full belly. We had 6 players and the play was elevated by a 20 year old who is quick, tall and very athletic. His eye/hand coordination is remarkable and it showed off on the court as who ever he played with won most of the time. We did manage to play together a couple times so that kept me off the sidelines as the winners split and played new teams after each game. After 2 hours my shirt was soaking and I was running out of gas so I called it a night while the youngsters continued to play great pickle ball.
It was going on 9 before I got back to the cabin and a hot shower felt great then I took a Sandra Brown's book to bed for an hour or so before calling it a night, LATER
