Well I'm making this post sitting at the dining room table looking out onto the back yard and woods of our cabin in the mountains. We had the windows closed last night and it's a good thing as the temp is down to 53 degrees. I finally was able to get some sleep last night after being so filled with excitement the past couple days. I must say we had an uneventful trip on Saturday as we left hot and humid Florida at 4 in the morning and reached the cabin around 5'ish in the evening. It was 86 just down off the mountain and as we climbed higher if reached down to 69 and no humidity. It was such an awesome sight as the trees in are full green foliage and the smell of wild roses and other blooming flowers permeated the air. We thank all of you who kept our safe travel in your prayers and thoughts.
Our neighbor Gerald had took the knee high grass down to where you could walk without fear of stepping on a snake and he left us a welcome back gift on the back porch as well. We will uncork it when he gets back from his trip up north. The cabin was in good shape with minor adjustments as we had no telephone service but we did have the Internet. I'm not sure how that works as we have to have a land line for the broadband DSL service. Luckily we have our trac phone which works up here where other major providers don't, anyhow it a lot cheaper. The inside cabin had a little more pine pollen than normal and I think that was due to the strong winds this past winter but there were very few dead bugs and we only saw one live large black ant which are Nancy's favorite in the kitchen last night. I have to replace a screen which was blow out by the winds which has never happened before. Maybe next year I will remove them and store them inside.
We were just thankful for the good trip and to see our cabin standing without any major damage after being away for 7 months. The flower gardens were covered with lots of new growth as well as lots of weeds and grass which will keep Nancy busy while I get the gardens planted. I did mange to put some of my herbs; parsley, basil, rosemary, thyme and hot peppers as well as a few tomato plants in the ground last evening before dark. I still have several packs of seedling to get in the ground today after church before I start any major mowing and weed eating.
Well we are excited about heading off to Cornerstone Church this morning for worship and to renew our many old friendships. We are saddened by leaving our many friends at Element Church in Tampa but this cycle occurs yearly and we are so blessed with the friendships made by the associations when honoring GOD through worship at these churches. We of course are crying our eyes with having to leave our kids and grand babies and Nancy's mom GG, LATER Here are a few pictures of the beautiful flowers that adorn our mountain cabin. I'm sure we will bore all of you with many more in the days to come.
