Well Friday started out much the usual with a 6'ish roll out. The temps were awesome with just about 50 degrees to start the day, dry and eventually sunny with a nice breeze for most of the day. After my routine(s) of a cup of hot green tea, a few quiet moments, the posting of this ramble and then I made a breakfast tortilla with green onions, tomato, a Serrano pepper and a couple scrambled eggs microwave style, yikes was that ever tasty and then washed down with a glass of V-8. That held me until nearly 1 PM when we decided to have a salad for lunch.
I headed out to check if the recently sown seeds have sprouted and I do have some new lettuce seedlings popping through the soil. I've lost a couple beets seedlings as they really don't transplant well and a couple kale seedlings but I have a ton of them so a couple won't make a difference. I mixed up a batch of grass and weed killer to spray around the fire circle and grass in the driveway that I wish would grow in the yard. I use to pull and hoe them put decided spraying was much easier. I sowed a couple rows of radishes and a another row of beets as we love beet greens in salads.
I piddled around hand watering the new transplants and then decided to trim more lower branches from the trees in the backwoods yards. Nancy steadied the ladder while I sawed with a long pole saw which makes her nervous. Afterwards I took the mower blades off the riding mower and sharpen them and then we rode the golf cart out to the mailbox.
Today was a sort of piddle day with nothing major and tomorrow(Friday) I've set up my first pickle ball match in the mountains on the outside court at Roaring Gap for 10 AM. I'm looking forward to see how much these guys have improved over the winter since they have been playing indoors. We have several new players as well I'm told. They all want to see if I can keep up as several are much younger. This should be a fun time with lots of good exercise.
Well that was about it for the day except for a supper of grilled sirloin steaks from the Delicious Ribbon Gift I promote through Amway and which are bogo this month of June and some fresh corn on the cob, we took our daily hike to the top of the mountain. I'm getting my mountain legs back as I made the pull to the top without resting up the back trail. Nancy is doing better as well with only one stop on that steep pull. We saw where a couple week-enders are up and then we ran into Joe who was on his daily hike also. We walked with him and Zeke to his house where we sat a spell until the sun started sliding down towards the mountains in the distance. It wasn't long after we got back down dusk was quickly upon us.
I headed for a hot shower and then tried to watch a little T.V. but opted for reading in bed which lasted maybe 2 pages, LATER
