Well Wednesday wasn't quite as hot but it still was muggy so the a/c is still on and has been since the end of January. The morning was rather foggy once again and the skies were overcast until mid-morning. I started the day much the usual with a before 6'ish wake up and roll out. After a cup of hot green tea, a few quiet moments then the posting of this ramble I cut up a grapefruit and a few strawberries for breakfast. I was on the road on my bike by 7:25 headed to the rec about a 1/2 mile away for some 2 plus hours of pickle ball.
We had 2 courts in action for most of the morning and the wet shirts were evident on most everyone. It was an open play day but only 2 intermediate players showed so the play was good for this day with mostly advanced players. By 10, I was ready for a break and we had started to lose players as the morning wore on. Afterwards I stopped by the library for a couple new reads and checked out a book I had on order. It's titled ON THE FARM by Steve Cameron and its the true story of a serial killer in Vancouver, Canada. This should keep me busy for a day or so as its quite in depth in the life and investigation of this man.
I came back to the house and got ready to head out for my yearly teeth checkup and cleaning with a local dentist. The hygienist is our former neighbor and friend, LaurieAnn. She gave me a good bill of sale except for a couple front teeth filings that are getting old and possibly leaking(according to the doctor). It seems I will need to replace them in the near future. After the dentist I stopped off next door to Aldi's for a few grocery items then headed home to a lunch of smoked turkey and lettuce wrap. After lunch I headed out to hand water the gardens as the sun was out and causing some wilt due to its high heat. I read for most of the afternoon until it was time to get ready for our house church supper at 6:30 when we both dusted, vacuumed and put the house in order.
I grilled a couple dozen chicken legs and thighs while Nancy put together a garden fresh salad. The others were bringing side dishes of potato salad, green bean casserole, fresh homemade rolls and a blueberry cobbler. The eatin' was once again fine and filling. We visited and talked about Patrick's recent trip to Israel 2 weeks ago. He had some very interesting photos from his 2 weeks there and in Rome. That is on my bucket list somewhere in the future. We had 9 adults and 1 kiddo. After they left around 8:30 we watched the Idol until 10 then it was shower time and finally some horizontal lab after 11. It was a fitful night as we both had dessert around 8 and the sugar kept us awake into the wee hours of the morning. I find we must starting eating earlier in the evening especially if dessert is involved as our bodies play tricks on us eating that late, oh well!! I guess that's a facet of getting older which is better than the alternative of dying young. Speaking of dying young we loss one of our Seminole Firefighters this week to a heart attack while in his 40's, yikes. Our rec will be closed on Friday due to the largeness of his service being held there. I knew him professionally as he assisted me on many accident investigations over the years.
We never got to see the grand babies today as Amy and Tyler had lunch together on this their 9th anniversary. It sure was quiet around here and we missed seeing adorable Eliza and Sam. We are babysitting on Saturday night as they go out to celebrate their special day together. Friday night is another big family dinner with Bobby and Amy's families attending as we celebrate his birthday that was on the 3rd. There will be leg of lamb and all the trimmings for that occasion, Later. Here are a couple pics from the other evenings supper. That is a wilted endive salad from the garden with sweet and sour dressing and grilled marinated cubed deer steaks, delicious!!!
