Well Sunday turned to be a rather nice somewhat warmer day after a heavy frost to start the morning. It reached the high 60's by late afternoon and then a few rain clouds moved in to start another cold front. The rain was just a few sprinkles and then it cleared off and that dropped the temps a few degrees but nothing like last week.
We started the day off with our usual Sunday morning routine of our quiet times then a lite breakfast before getting ready to head to Tampa for worship at Element Church. It was just a little unusual as Bobby had one of his elders give the message and he did a fine job on the parables about the lost sheep, coin and prodigal son. The music was awesome and there was a good crowd on hand as well. Bobby will be gone next Sunday as well as he is going away for a week on a small sabbatical to recharge his batteries and work on his second book. It's nice to know he has other men in the church who can deliver the message as well as lead music.
After the service we headed home and travelled somewhat on the new crosstown which brought us out near the church; it sure made a difference in traveling to and from the church time wise and we missed some congested areas in Tampa. After a lite lunch we settled in to getting ready for Eliza Faye's first visit to our house with her grandma from Kansas. I made up a guacamole for snacking and then Nancy has a leg of lamb roasting in the oven along with smashed 'taters and green beans from the garden and I made a huge fresh garden salad with 5 different lettuces, beet greens and fresh basil and dill. Yeowza was that ever beautiful and delicious. GG made a fresh apple pie for dessert along with vanilla ice cream. So much for eatin' lite today.
After vacuuming I settled into the playoff games and both of my picks won so the super bowl will between the Broncos and the Seahawks in a couple weeks. I really don't have a favorite but this could be Payton's last hurrah and I've always thought he is a class act and while I like the QB Wilson for the Seahawks as well he is just in his second year. He will be around for some time to come and the 'Hawks came into the league the same year the Bucs did; so I may pull for the Broncos. I know, what kind of logic is that, but since the Bucs have already won a super bowl title and the 'Hawks haven't I want to kept the Bucs special as they are a home town team. Did I mention the Bucs have a whole new coaching staff with some caliber folks and proven winners. Hopefully next year we will once again be a contender.
Well during the afternoon some old church friends came by with tons of gifts for Eliza Faye. There were several outfits, toys, diapers and blankets. Many thanks to the Havener and Davis families for their generosity. We were good friends at SFBC for many years and we both have since moved on to different churches but retained our friendships. We saw them at Joshua's funeral service on Friday for the first time in a long while. They visited for a couple hours in the afternoon laden with gifts for the new little one.
Well that was about it for Sunday as we kept quite busy. Grandma Cindy has been a big help with this first week of Eliza Faye being home. She is leaving on Tuesday for Kansas and she will be surely missed. Nancy heads in for her colonoscopy on Tuesday so I will be doctoring her this next day or so as she prepares for that procedure. I will miss a couple days of pickle ball this next week but hope to get back full time in the coming weeks, LATER Here are a couple of the latest pictures of Eliza Faye from last evening. Ava is just so enamored with her and today Sam wanted to finally touch her as well.
