Thursday

Well the Ross Family arrived safely around 5 PM from Seminole. The weather co-operated as we had bright sunshine and relatively warm temps; however Amy was chilled right a way and needed a sweat shirt. I took Ava and Sam on a golf cart ride and then Sam wanted to ride on the riding mower around the yards before they ran around in the yard working off some energy. We even had a campfire as I kept it going after burning trash.

Wednesday started out with a 7'ish roll out to cool temps down in the 40's. The skies eventually turned bright blue with lots of sunshine. It did warm to a nice 60 plus degrees for most of the day with a few clouds and even a light drizzle a couple times. We were busy as all get out after our hot drinks, quiet times and then a lite breakfast. Gerald came by with his automatic corn feeder and we hung it in the backwoods area where the kiddos should be able to see deer come down in the evening to feed. I then headed out to the mailbox to wait for a package that our sub mail carrier was bringing for us.

We headed to the top of the mountain for our daily hike after a lite lunch of salad and then we put a roasting chicken in the smoker complete with a can of beer in the rear and lots of hickory chips. I decided to mow the yards and then Nancy hung 3 loads of laundry while I burned trash. It was tidy up the cabin and porches which kept us busy the rest of the afternoon.

We had oven taters, a pot of pintos, a fresh salad and we added some greens from my garden as the red leaf lettuce, spinach, beet greens along with nasturtiums flowers and arugula complimented the store bought greens. The smoked chicken was awesome and juicy after being in the smoker 6 plus hours. It was an 8 pound bird and done to perfection. Nancy had made a large batch of ginger snaps for dessert.

We managed to stay awake until around 10 PM as Amy and Tyler were up at 4 AM and the kiddos crashed after their baths. We were tuned into the game between the Tigers and the Red Sox and the Tigers were winning when we turned in for the night, LATER
