Friday

Wow what a change in the weather in just a few hours. We had big wet snow flakes last night and it's into the 20's this AM. It was tough to roll out of those warm flannel sheets this cold Friday morning. Thursday was a bit blustery with a strong breeze for most of the day and we did see some temps that stayed mainly in the 40's with lots of sunshine.

We started the day with a late roll out as our guests seemed to like sleeping in as well. Kathryn was the late riser around 9'ish. We ate pumpkin bread for a lite breakfast before we headed up the back trail for a hike around 10:30. We showed everyone the houses that were for sale and of course our beautiful views we see everyday. We were able to make out the buildings in down town Winston-Salem. We stopped and visited with Jetta and Zeke followed for a walk in the woods.

We got back a little after noon so we were famished due to the lite breakfast and I brought up the pot of tortilla soup from the basement Nancy has prepared ahead of time. Yeow was that ever tasty along with the ham and cheese on bakery bread. We lounged around after lunch while Kathryn and Patrick took off to town from some groceries as she wanted to prepare one of her specialty dishes for us tonight. They had a grand time in our small town of Sparta and found their way back safely.

Nancy had a bone-in pork roast in the oven with sauerkraut and the warm smells permeated the cabin which had our taste buds salivating. Patrice brought some DVDs on the Truth Series by and awesome speaker and we watched the 50 minute video before we started with supper. Nancy had smashed taters, sauerkraut, kielbasa and dogs along with the roast and it was delectable. We were so full we passed on dessert.

We decided we wanted to watch our win less hometown football team(Buccaneers) get mauled by the local favorite team(Panthers) here in the mountains and it wasn't pretty as we showed everyone how to be the number one team for awfulness in the NFL. We lived up to our reputation; but on a merrier note the Cardinals came back after the big loss the night before to the Red Sox's. So that cheered us up.

While playing a game of Balderdash which Nancy and Carol won(the biggest liars) we heard rain on the tin roof which we felt would surely turn to snow and it did. The flakes were huge and it snowed rather steady for a period. This AM the porch and deck railing were covered as well as the cars and plants. The temps were in the high 20's as we started the day, LATER
