Friday

Well Thursday turned out to be a busy day with our trip to Galax early in the morning then lunch out and a hike and finally a pickle ball match with 5 other fellers.

We started the day around 7 ish and it was a bit chilly but eventually warmed up to the upper 60's by late evening. We didn't see much sunshine but did run into a rain shower on the way to Galax and noticed we had received a nice shower at the cabin sometime while we were gone. The newly sown grass seed as well as the veggies that are still living needed that rain as I had been hand watering daily. We did our usual routine of our quiet time, posting of this ramble and a lite breakfast before leaving the mountain.

We headed to Wal-Mart for some goodies for tonight's (Friday)get together with the old gang while I had the truck serviced for our return trip on Wednesday to Florida then we stopped and gassed up at $3.18 before heading over to the barbershop for an ear lowering and finally at the propane gas station for a tank fill up for the upcoming cold weather. On the way back we took a different route other than the parkway and stopped at the Mountain Surf restaurant for lunch. I had the bean and bacon bowl of soup with a grilled cheese sandwich while Nancy had stew beef and gravy with real smashed taters and pinto beans, yeow was that ever a tasty lunch and we licked the plates clean it was that good.

We took our daily hike after stowing the groceries to the top of the mountain and it had warmed up considerably since early morning despite the rain shower. We stopped off and visited with the Browning's for a spell before heading back. It was going on 5'ish so I grilled a hamburger from our Delicious Ribbon Gift(Amway) and it was fantastic. The meat from the Mid-Western Company is awesome and we have yet to get a bad cut or burger. We sliced up a sweet vidalia onion along with one of sister Dee's tomato(I've still a couple down in the cool basement) some dill pickles and mustard and had a feast on a croissant roll, Yeow was that ever tasty.

I caught up on the news while waiting to pick up neighbor Gerald and we headed to the Roaring Gap outside court for some hour and half of pickle ball with 4 other guys who are

all from Cornerstone. We headed out a mite early around 8 PM as we relinquished the court so those 4 younger men could wear themselves out. We play where the winners split and stay on the court and 2 new players come in and Gerald and I was on the court quite a bit during the evening play. We both had wet shirts from the activity. It's great the enthusiasm is catching on with a lot more players and we had one player who hasn't played in a couple weeks due to work. So the interest is there and now that we have the use of the church for play during inclement weather the play should continue through the winter months, LATER   Nancy took her camera with us on our hike to the top of the mountain and the views were awesome after the rain as the clouds and mist were a part of the scenery. If you look closely she captured a flock of birds by accident as they took flight in one of the last photos.
