Well July has gone and August will be here tomorrow which means summer is in its last full month as September brings the beginning of Fall, here in the mountains, yikes; of course for us who are now flat landers in Florida we welcome a little cooler temps from 95 to 90, oh well.
Thursday was a fun day as we took our "mountain mom" with us for most of the day at at her young age of 92+ she held up remarkably. She mentioned she hadn't had this much fun in quite a spell and we so enjoyed her company as well. We use to take day trips with her all the time but it seems the past couple of years we haven't taken the time to do so, but we are hoping to do this again in the near future as we explored some roads we had never been on before and in one subdivision I had to a 3 point turn around against the side of a hill as we were trying find a house for sale that our friends were interested in; but it was the wrong subdivision, oh well.
I started the day much the usual with a before 6'ish rollout to my routines that start with the cup of tea laced with turmeric, the posting of this ramble and then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. All seem as well as can be expected due to ages and health concerns. I'm still giving thanks for the healing that is happenings to my back and leg. It's doing much better but still not up to playing pickle ball yet. I'm hoping by the end of August I will give it a try once again and get ready for the competition I'm use to again much younger players.
We picked up our "mountain mom" and headed to Galax around 10:30 and we didn't bring her home until after 3'ish She had a full day with purchasing some furniture and then we had a delicious lunch at Applebees and then a stop at the veggie stand on the way home. We took some back roads off the parkway and saw where lots of clear cutting was occurring as the land was being ready for some serious crops. Not sure who was clearing the many acres and what they were going to be used for but the heavy equipment being used meant some one with lots of capital was involved. We drove up a couple of old roads and saw the old home place where some of the now richest local folks in the county grew up which is now in shambles. We then took some gravel/dirt roads and saw some beautiful new homes along the road as well as some run down mobile homes just across the way. We headed up on our mountain and showed her where we venture to the top on our daily hikes and then we came back through the woods road to our place. She hadn't been out to see us in a couple years due to her difficulty with the steps up and onto the porches. She did just fine as we assisted her.
We dropped her off and headed home in what looked like rain clouds were forming; but the rain passed us by until around 7:30 when we got a good drenching for a couple hours. We played some cards waiting for the rain to begin/stop which never occurred so off we went on a hike to the top. We visited briefly with Alecia Roberts for a few as she was digging up the two garlic plants we sowed last fall at the old Browning place. They had nice bulbs at the end of the stalks but were beginning to show some rot. Hopefully they will dry out and give her the spark to plant for next year. We came on across the top and saw no one else to speak with except for the worker at Shawnees place who was replacing the steps to her front porches.
It had warmed up considerably after the hike and the a/c felt great. We decided to wait for an hour before having a bite of supper after the big pasta lunch at Applebees. I skipped supper except for a couple pieces of cheese and crackers and a glass of the fruit of the vine and Nancy just had a salad. Well not much else to write about except by 9'ish I could hardly hold my eyes open so I hit the shower and by 9:30 was ready for some horizontal lab. All that traveling plus that huge hike plum wore me out and I know our "mountain mom" must have been worn out as well, LATER

Thursday Morning July 30th
Well Wednesday was basically a work day for me as I'm doing a little more physical work each day plus we got in a long hike to the top of the mountain just before supper time. It was a beautiful morning to start the day with temps in the 60's but the humidity did come in around lunch time so the a/c went back on for the rest of the day.
I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble and then did my usual morning quiet time to give thanks, lift up several and pray for our nation. We can only turn this ship called America around with GOD's help as she is heading for an end to this awesome country, we know as the birthplace of freedom, liberty and the right to pursue happiness. The radicals are sending US(A) into destruction with the help of the democrat party, the msm and those in academia who are brain washing our youths in to socialism/communism. There is no longer a level playing field for folks to get ahead when those in the gov't are corrupt and want to stay in power as we are seeing by their hypocrisy and double standards of lawlessness in rewarding and making excuses for the violence. We all must pray for the nation because of the spiritual warfare that has now made everything once bad and unwholesome now good in the eyes of those who hate America. There those who want to see her destroyed from within by our own leaders in the congress and the last potus Obama and his sycophants. They are seeking a one world order or globalism much to the opposite of nationalism or America first that our Potus Trump is advocating and doing with his administration.
I headed out after a breakfast of fruit and cereal to check on the gardens and then loaded up the golf cart with several loads of the stump grinding which are now mulch. I have several large piles of the mulch so I decided instead of buying mulch use my own home grown for the circle bed and then the bed in front of the porch which houses our hydrangeas. That chore kept me busy until after lunch when I decided to not over do it with all of the shoveling of the mulch into the trash cans which I used to transport the mulch. I had a soaking wet shirt by the time I called it a day on the mulching, so I sat and iced the back a couple times while eating lunch. Our garden is producing some fine leafy greens and that is what we had for our lunch with some home grown cucumbers added to the mix.
We took off on a great hike to the top around 4'ish or so and stopped and chatted with the Robert's who bought the Browning place. They are making lots of changes to the place as they just love being here. We headed on across the top and saw no one else to chat with, then headed down the long way on the back trail. It was a good hike and the back held up well. I did use the back brace as I had given it a good work out with the mulching earlier in the day. It looked like rain in the afternoon and even the power flickered off and on a couple times but we had just a little rain, enough to settle the dust. We got into a card game and then it was non stop phone calls from Nancy's buddy Carol in Seminole, then daughter Amy and finally son Bobby. I did piddled around after a supper of brats and corn on the cob in the flower beds pulling some weeds until dusk.
We are taking our 'mountain mom" Helen to Galax today(Thur.) to purchase a new love seat for her cabin and then we will eat out at Applebees for a change. They now have their dining room open for eat in customers. Well not much more to share as it soon was shower time for me and then some horizontal lab around 10'ish, LATER

Wednesday Morning July 29th
Well this month is nearly gone as time just seems to be going faster as we grow older. Tuesday was a shopping and errand running day in Galax, Va. which is just a short trip up the parkway. The parkway is such a beautiful drive as well and it seems many folks are out and about this time of the year stopping at the scenic overlooks. We saw lots of bicyclists on our trip to and from town.
I started the day well before a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot tea while I post this ramble and then honored my Creator and Lord with some quiet moments giving thanks and lifting up several. I continue to pray for our potus and this nation and for those who keep us safe from the criminals who have taken over many cities in our nation. The corrupt and inept leadership is appalling to say the least and those who riot, loot and burn as well as kill and main are doing so just to destroy our heritage, culture and economy and turn this country into socialism/communism. Those in the higher learning institutions have become so radicalized they should be charged with sedition. Many of those arrested for the insurrection and violence are teachers.
It rained buckets in Galax but we got nary a drop at the cabin which was kind of nice for a change. I understand the forecast for here later in the week is rain. I did hand water a couple of the bare patches I sowed with grass transplants from the fire circle area. Grass grows in that rocky area like I gave it fertilizer so I pull it up and then transplant them into where the tree stumps were ground down, so far many have lived. The garden continues to do well with the leafy greens and the cucumbers are really starting to produce. I'll start giving some away to friends and neighbors. We finished up the leftover zucchini pie for supper and wow was it ever as delicious as the day Nancy baked it. They too are still producing albeit not as fast as I like.
We took a hike around 5'ish as we had a huge mountain breakfast of cakes, sausage and eggs so I wasn't hungry for lunch and Nancy can not hike after supper any more; so we took off around the normal suppertime and hiked to the top of the mountain. I did O.K. and without my back brace. The back is doing good but not quite 100% yet. I'm not taking any OTC meds and the sleep is good at nights, so I'm on the mend. The physical exercise is really good for it and I'm pacing myself so as to not over due it. I'm catching up on some more physical projects daily, when resting I continue to keep an ice pack on the lower back.
The annual Gravel Springs Church picnic has cancelled this years yard party so we will not be heading up the valley to the Winchester area until maybe later this summer. Its usually the second weekend in August but this virus has everyone cancelling all events which I understand for the many elderly and those with some health issues. We were hoping to catch up on old friends and relationships while visiting my home areas. We spoke with baby sister Dee and her husband will have his severe painful knee replaced on the 11th of August so it will be sometime after that as he rehab's at home. All seems well with all of our kiddos and grand kiddos and we are still planning on Thanksgiving for the first time here at the cabin with the Ross Family and then again with the Triplett Family here a Christmas Day celebration. That could change having twins who will be a year old by then and to the weather which could be snowy at worst, oh well we will see, LATER

Tuesday Morning July 28th
Well Monday was a beautiful morning to start the day with temps in the 60's with blue skies, bright sunshine and the birds were so happy as I listened to their singing through out the morning. It also was the second day in a row we took our usual hike to the top of the mountain as we try to get some what back into shape since my nearly a month of doing nothing but babying this back. I'm getting close to being back to where I was before this injury or what ever caused me so much pain for several weeks.
I started the day with a well before 6 roll out to my usual routines of a cup of hot tea, quiet time to honor my Creator and Lord Jesus while lifting several up for comfort and healing and just plain giving thanks and honoring Him. I'm also praying for peace among those who want to destroy this nation and for those who are guilty of such unrest to be brought to trial for their crimes. If we allow this kind of behavior to continue we will no longer be a nation of freedoms and liberties with a constitution that makes us all equal in the sight of the law and justice. The radicals are wanting to do away with our nation and impose what the Nazi's did to Germany with tyranny and anarchy. We fought two world wars to do away with these ideologies and now we have several who want to return to that kind of world.
Well I did piddle around in the gardens and yards catching up on some small minor chores and at times rested the back with an ice pack in place which seems to help immensely. I haven't used any kind of pain reliever or muscle relaxer in over a week so I'm thrilled. I do wear a back brace when hiking on the uneven and steep trails; but so far with a little stretching to start the day the back and knee are without any real serious pain. I believe the dull ache will always be there from the back operation of 50+ years ago while serving in the USAF. I'm actually thinking of maybe getting back on the pickle ball court later this summer or maybe I'll wait to when we get back to Florida this fall.
I grilled bone in pork chops for our supper and I did harvest in the early morning hours before the sun got to the gardens two huge collanders of Swiss chard, kale, beet greens and lettuces from the gardens. I cleaned and then spun them dry before breaking them up into our huge salad bowl which we keep filled in the fridge. The herbs are doing well except the parsley died due to the wetness of the garden. I'm now hoeing every day to loosen the soil and allow it to dry out. The backwoods yards are growing grass, now that all of those trees have been removed and the sunshine is driving the moss out. I now have more grass in the past several weeks in that area than in the last 10 years.
Well that was about it for the day as we so enjoy the beautiful clean fresh air and ambiance of being surrounded by the woods. Nancy loves hanging outside our laundry to dry in the warm sunshine and I love to just wonder about the property piddling with the gardens and seeing all of the new blooms. We have so many new flowering plants and now from the wild flower beds that we are seeing some new flowering plants. I'm writing this post as daylight breaks here in the mountains with the sound of the over night dew dripping down onto the tin roof and that breaks the stillness in the early morning. I love spending a few quiet moments with my Creator at this time as well, LATER

Monday Morning..July 27th
Well Sunday was a good day of worship as we were back in church with many other believers at Cornerstone in Sparta and then again with our on line service for Bridgepoint in Florida, plus it was a beautiful day with cool temps in the morning and it may have reached the low 80's by the afternoon. We met us with Jake, Katelyn and baby Skylar for lunch at the local Mexican eatery in Sparta. We did a little shopping at the Food Lion afterwards for some bargains before picking up Nancy's scripts at Walgreens then heading home. We both were full from the lunch so I napped briefly and then we settled into a couple card games before taking our first full hike for me in several weeks.
The back held up nicely as we did the full hike but took it slow. I'm thrilled its starting to show some good signs of maybe it will heal completely although in the mornings its still a bit stiff and there is some ache but nothing to what it was in the beginning. The physical activity seems to help it and I do ice it down, once again a couple times throughout the day and evenings.
We spoke with Amy and they are getting a Bull Mastiff puppy later in the Fall. It hasn't been born yet but the kiddos are crying out for a dog, especially Sam and Tyler wanted one for protection for the family as well. Wow, dogs are not cheap and this one is going to run around 2 grand and its coming from Alabama, oh well. I'm sure glad we are over the dog stages as we had Doberman's for close to 30 years or more.
We came back from our hike and had a sandwich around 6:30 then piddled around in the flower beds. The one we sowed with wild seeds is starting to show some colors and we found that sweet basil is among the many plants that came up. Lots of the recently transplanted grasses in the bare areas of where the stump were ground down are showing some promise with all of the rain almost daily. The other yard grasses are lush and green as well. The hydrangeas are showing lots of purple and a couple pink blooms as are the zinnias beds. I harvested a couple more cucumbers and noticed a couple more zucchini's coming on as well.
Well Nancy was on the phone with neighbor Carol from Seminole for what seemed hours so I hit the shower and then some horizontal lab a little after 10'ish, LATER

Sunday Morning July 26th
Well Saturday wasn't much to write about activity wise, except it always great to be here in the mountains. I did do the weed whacking during the morning hours and the back held up just fine but after that it was just little things around the cabin as it rained for a spell and we played cards. I finally won two games in a row of Kings on the Corner which Nancy is always whupping me.
The day started much the usual with a 6 ish roll out and she stayed in the sack until after 8'ish. She is a night owl where I hit the sack with the chickens which was an old saying when the folks back in the day had no electricity. I remember times when we used coal oil lamps at the old home place when the power went out for a spell, oh well those were the days. I did my quiet times lifting up several by name as well as giving thanks for my healing which is slow but it seems to be on the way. I can't wait to get back to hiking and even the thoughts of playing pickle ball again has crossed my mind, despite a week ago thinking that would never happen.
Nancy made our first zucchini pie from our garden and it was so delicious for our supper. It's quite an ordeal with lots of prep work but well worth it in taste and flavor. We still have half of it leftover which is always better the second time, so we will have another supper. Those squash came from our circle drive which was over grown with weeds and grasses when we got here in June so I plowed it under and we decided to plants some perennials in the lower 2/3 of the bed and I had the upper 1/3 for squash and cucumbers which have done great. The rest of the garden is producing delicious beet greens, Swiss chard and kale as well as jalapeno peppers and lots of lettuces and herbs. A cut worn took out two of my okra plants which were 8-10 inches in height which was disappointing but I dug around the ones he cut off and found him and sent him away for good. I do have a couple tomatoes on the Big Boy 'mater plants, despite rain for a week and then drought for a week, oh well.
That was about it for the day as we will hopefully start on hiking next week and trying to get back into shape since all of our company is now gone. We did eat lots of breads which we love but adds inches and ounces to the body plus I was so inactive for nearly a month. I'm doing better but not a 100% yet despite wanting to be able to run and play, oh well, LATER

Saturday Morning..July 25th
Well Friday was another beautiful morning to start the day. We opened up the cabin for some fresh air until mid morning when the humidity drifted into the picture. The skies clouded up in the afternoon and we had a brief shower and then by late afternoon blue skies and bright sunshine became the norm until dark. We ventured to Sparta and met up with Mechelle and her mom and dad for supper.
I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish rollout to my usual routines that start with the cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and ginger while I posted this ramble, spent some quiet time with my Creator and then gave my 2 cents worth of commentary on the social media, facebook. I'm thrilled with so many coming out to show their support for this nation and our potus Trump. I'm really disappointed in the pro sports teams who giving standing or credence to this terrorists bunch who are using race as a means to destroy our culture, heritage and to kill and main our police as well as loot and riot. This bunch along with antifa who are supported by the despicable dem's in the gov't are attempting to move US(A) back to a third world country and do away with our constitution which sets this nation apart in the civilized world since 1776.
We are a nation that was built on the Judeo-Christian principles and we have let the enemy(satan) infiltrate our land with immigrants who hate this nation, hate our religion and just plain hate everything we stand for; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If we don't vote and stand up for this potus the nation will fall into a civil war and we will destroy ourselves from within and the example is look at these major cities who are in total disarray with the dem's in control of the governments. The huge cities that are led by the dem's are looking like a war torn city as these domestic terrorists have no regard for the rule of law or anyone who doesn't like their agenda. They pounce on the old folks, kill kids and their own race with out any feelings or remorse and use this race issue to promote their means of the destruction of our society. The bias MSM is in bed with these dem's and these domestic terrorist and fail to tell or report the truth all because of their hatred for this potus. I just do not understand how they can be so dishonest and look forward to the destruction of our nation and openly advocate this hatred.
I piddled around in the yards and gardens doing some light projects as I'm hoping the back will continue to heal. So far its feeling better but I'm still icing it every chance I get and the terrible pain has abated to just a constant ache. I'm hoping I will not need an MRI before heading back to Florida in November. I'm beginning to think this maybe the wake up call to getting old which is better than the alternative. The prednisone was a life savor but I can't be on that forever and I'm ruling out any surgery at this time as I'm able to function with limits, oh well. I maybe hanging up the pickle ball paddles at least for this summer which is a downer to my psyche, but just to be able to function in a limited fashion will have to do for now.
We had a great pizza at the eatery called Crave in Sparta. We use to think the JB's pizza was the best after the pizzeria but this one was superb. We had a good visit with Mechelle, her mom Kay and dad Gerald. They have become our mountain family here and we so enjoy their company. Kay's ankle is healing but she is still having some issues with it but able to walk near normal. Gerald is just the sweetest guy around and we so enjoy playing games with them. Mechelle is busy with her job and all of them are into Gypsy Varner Horses as they breed, trade and sell constantly. They are a beautiful stout breed, much like the work horses of old. They are a very tame breed as well and we so enjoy visiting and petting them when we visit their beautiful farm.
Well that was about it for the day as Bobby called and he is excited about MLB starting which I'm not supporting because of their stance on disrespecting the Flag and the Anthem which directly disrespects our Veterans, Police and those who are against this radical bunch who are destroying our country. I could care less if any of the pro sports teams survive. All are over paid to play a game while the rest of America works and has no voice except for this potus who is working for the America folks and the survival of this nation and our heritage. I'm over hollywood's malcontents who are anti America as well with these idiots paying for these rioters to get out of jail after being arrested for rioting, looting, destroying property and hurting so many innocents. I'm sure glad for any who read my ramble they know just where I stand on America and these domestic terrorists, LATER
Friday Morning July 24th
Well Thursday found us once again with hot and humid conditions so the a/c is still on which is very unusual at least in the early mornings until late afternoons. I was up before 6 to my routines which always include my morning cup of hot tea, quiet times to lift up several by name and seek some personal time with my Creator and to honor Him. I too need some healing and comfort but I'm starting to see some relief and I'm able to do some more physical activity as well as I took an abbreviated hike which was about halfway across the mountain top with Nancy before lunch. I made the steep trail up through our backwoods which is a feat in itself. I did feel some extra pain for most of the rest of the day so I kept it iced every hour or so which seemed to help. I'll not hike again for a couple days and see if the muscles respond better next time.
I did do some small chores around the cabin and then we got rain for most of the afternoon and evening, so Nancy and I played Kings on the Corner which is a card game and she came from behind in each to win but then we played Gin Rummy and I finally was able to pull out another come from behind win which took us right up to supper time. I grilled deer burgers that our neighbor Gerald blessed us with, which he harvested in the area. Wow is all I can say as the flavor is superb. After supper and the clean up we ventured out checking on the gardens and flower beds. I picked another cuke and noticed another couple zucchini's are starting to mature. My mouth is watering for zucchini pie which is a fav of both of us.
We had a nice long call from our campus pastor in Seminole from Bridgepoint Church. It seems our campus which is located in the college auditorium may not reopen for some time due to this virus which has slowed the economy and is being blown out of proportion by the msm and those who want to see this present administration fail and deny the re-election of our potus Trump.
Well we did get to hear Trump on the Hannity Show last evening and this man has the well being of our nation strictly in his agenda. He is now using federal law enforcement to rein in the radicals who have taken over many democratic run cities in the nation with their violence. These leaders are welcoming the destruction of our culture and properties with rioting, looting and now vicious violence against anyone they deem are not with them in their anarchy which is being condoned and taught by liberal academia in our colleges. This is a revolution by the marxist who want socialism/communism and no law an order as we have seen by their demands to do away with the police all under the guise of racism.
It's unbelievable these leaders have let these radicals get away with such violent crimes against US(A) with murders, maiming and total destruction of many businesses as well as terrorists actions against the old and the weak. If this isn't stopped soon there will be another civil war and while the msm and dems promote this violence our potus, who is using all within his power to stop it.. We must never let the dem's get control of the three branches of gov't again. Under Obama they have undermined our duly elected potus Trump with their attempted coup while he was a candidate. We
are seeing more evidence everyday of how Obama and his sycophants used the top echelon in the FBI to create a hoax claim to destroy him just before and into minutes of his taking the oath of potus. These vile people are guilty of treason and should be hung in my opinion. Obama is still out there touting Biden who will clear him of his treasonous actions if elected. The dems are doing everything possible to not let our potus be re-elected with their vile and evil msm networks failing to report the truth. I believe these networks are guilty of treason as well with their constant creating false and fake news against our potus, LATER

Thursday Morning July 23rd
Well this month is moving right along and I'll soon have another year on the record, wow where does this time go. Wednesday found me feeling better with the lower back pain so I fired up the riding mower and mowed all of the yards with a couple breaks in the middle of the 3 hours of mowing. I piddled around doing a few other chores as we put things away from all of our company and back into place.
I started the day much the usual with my cup of hot tea laced with turmeric and ginger, actually sister Dee brought me some tea bags with both ingredients which are much less messy. I did my quiet time lifting up several by name and giving thanks for my blessings. I finished up some leftovers for breakfast before heading out to check on the gardens and yards. The veggie gardens are doing as well as can be expected with all of the rain, however despite at times thunder and dark rain clouds it went around us today. The day before it poured buckets in just a matter of minutes, washing out the driveway which neighbor Gerald scrapped with his tractor, keeping it in good shape.
Nancy has several loads of laundry on the lines throughout the day as she is finally catching up on all the bed linen changes during the past week as people moved from the basement which has 3 beds to the upstairs bedrooms which have two queen beds in each room, plus our bed downstairs, oh well. The washing machine and dryer had a workout and so far are holding up especially the dryer as it's at least 25 years old and it was used when we got it. We replaced the washer a couple years back.
Well we had a nice salad with lots of fresh garden greens for lunch and then ate some canned beets from Dee's garden she brought for us, delicious to say the least. Beets and their greens are one of our favorite veggies and they accompanied salmon patties which we haven't prepared in quite awhile. After the supper cleanup we rode out to the mailbox and then to the top of the mountain on the golf cart. The deer were out in abundance as we saw several on our ride. We visited with a few neighbors on top of the mountain seeing a couple for the first time this summer. Everyone was out enjoying the coolness of the evening which wasn't great but better than the high 90's down off the mountain.
It wasn't long after a hot shower around 10'ish that I was ready for some horizontal lab except Nancy's phone rang around 12:30 awaking me and then again around 2'ish she heard a noise upstairs which was one of the baby seats had fallen causing a noise. I sure hope its not a mouse as I caught 3 yesterday down under the back porch and a couple in the red shed this summer. This is the first summer we have seen any mice but so far no evidence they are in the cabin, LATER

Wednesday Morning July 22nd
Well Tuesday found us with cloudy skies and a thunder storm in the afternoon but the humidity is ever present which is quite unusual for these many days in a row. We still have the a/c on even during the early morning hours when its usually in the 60's but it been in the middle 70's for the last several days.
I started back on my usual routines that means up before 6 to my blog and quiet times and then checking on the news and doing my two cents worth on social media. I'm doing somewhat better each day with the lower back and knee issues. I did do a few chores around the cabin, nothing really back breaking except for pulling some grasses out of the fire circle and then transplanting them into the bare areas where the tree stumps were ground down. I figured if these grasses can grow in the rocks and gravel they surely should grow in those areas. I wore my back brace and then I iced it afterwards. I'm officially off prednisone as I tapered down from 60mg a day to the last 4 days of 5 mg, thus far so good. It sure helped to put out the the fire in the area and if it flares up again then I'll head down to Elkin for an MRI at the hospital there.
We are still cleaning up leftovers and they were delicious for our supper and after the cleanup we headed outside to roam the property and do some piddly chores. All of this daily rain of which we got a half inch yesterday afternoon has the flower and vegetable beds showing lots weeds and grasses where you don't want them. I will need to mow all of the yards as soon as it dries out enough as the clover has lots of white blooms and will reseed itself. I did notice one tomato plants has a couple golf ball size fruit.
We got to listen to last weeks message from our church in Florida and Tyler had a good right on message that what this world needs in Jesus and that we stand for helping all folks get closer to knowing and accepting him and his teaching. Our nation was once considered a christian nation until the fake and fraud potus Obama who is a self professed muslim entered the white house and started all of this division among the classes and now we are seeing the results of this with all of the radicals, marxists and the vicious blm who are for nothing but destroying the very fabric of our culture with their destruction of our history. They are shaming the nation by using racist ideology which none of us in this nation subscribed to or were ever a part of. When they have no standing its always their go to mantra; slavery or systemic racism. Sure there are examples of both because of the criminals who use young girls for sex slaves and human trafficking and of course there are some bad folks who hate folks of color but those are the exceptions. America is the land of opportunity for anyone who works hard and does right to his fellow man; our constitution guarantees it. Academia today is teaching and brain washing our youths into thinking just the opposite and its such a shame. The bias msm isn't helping either with taking up for those who are destroying our nation all to make sure Trump doesn't expose the corruption by the democrats in D.C. and get re-elected. They want to see America destroyed and that should alarm every citizen.
Well Nancy has been busy cleaning and making beds after changing all the sheets in the upstairs bedroom pictured here. We will have a break from being an Air BnB to just us for a few days before the next wave comes through, LATER

Tuesday Morning..July 21st
Well its back to an empty cabin after sister Dee and husband Mike left yesterday morning, wow what a 10 plus days of non stop company, fine eatin' and game playing all while I took it moderately easy with this lower back issues. Every one is home safe, some traveling over 700 miles and some just 3-4 hours. I headed to Sparta for another chiro visit which I'm now thinking he has done all he can do and I'm just racking up a bill which I was unaware of despite a costly first evaluation; anyhow there isn't much he has done except show me the x-rays of the loss of 90% of the L5 disc and that I needed prednisone to help heal the inflammation in the area.
I came back from Sparta and loaded up the truck with lots of garbage which we dumped off at the dumpsters on the parkway before heading into Galax for some shopping and then to the post office to mail the wraps/swaddlers for the grand sons which were left behind when the family left in the early morning hours of Saturday. We did do a Wal-Mart shop for some items which we had run out of and then gassed up at 1.84 which is the same price here in N.C. It's usually 10-15 cents a gallon cheaper there than here in N.C. It sure was a hot day there as well with temps in the lower 90's, yikes and the humidity had creeped back into the area here as well. The a/c has been on non stop for several days as the morning temps have stayed around the 70 mark, but it very unusual for so much humidity so early in the day.
Well I harvested some beet greens, kale and Swiss chard for the salad bowl as well as some radishes which grew to be larger than golf ball size and thus were too woody to eat but for a few smaller ones. I'll resow some seeds later today once the ground dries. We got another rain shower in the evening after we got back from a golf cart ride to the top during evening hours. We spoke with a few folks on top before heading back down to call it a day outside. I did harvest another cucumber and a zucchini.
The deer came in over night and ate down our black eyed Susan which were starting to bloom and then they ate down the cone flowers and part of the wild flowers that border the backwoods fence. So far they have stayed away from the hydrangeas which is quite surprising and this year is the first time they have actually had purple blooms, LATER

Monday Morning July 20th
Well the last of our company/family left this morning around 8:30. I had another appointment with the chiropractor at 9:15 in Sparta so I headed out shortly after they left for Woodstock with a stop for lunch with Mike's mom in Roanoke. What a fun busy time this past week with lots of guests all were some what related to us with distant cousins, sister and of course son Bobby and his family. It sure will be quiet around here but I can get back to self administering some therapy for the back issues. It has gotten much better but there are some lingering effects of the pain and nerve damage to the back, hip and leg.
We will head off to Galax to mail some things left behind for the grand boys and to make a dumpster stop with tons of trash and refuse. We have plenty of grocery items so that will not be the main stop but I do want to check on a cartridge for the kitchen faucet which seemed to be dripping more than usual after working great initially but now something is amiss with the unit. It sure turned humid here the past couple of days and much higher temps into the middle 80's. We got another storm last evening which brought on the humidity. Well I'll get back to my morning routines tomorrow Tuesday, LATER

Sunday Afternoon..19th
Well its been non stop here at the cabin for over a week now. We still have baby sister Dee and husband Mike here until tomorrow morning. Their youngest daughter Kelly and family left this morning around noon and have been here since Friday.
Bobby and family got back home around 6'ish after leaving at 4:30 in the morning. Their trip was uneventful except for the last hour when the boys were ready to get out of their car seats. I grilled boneless rib eyes for our supper and along with frwsh green beans and corn on the cob it was a success. We had Nancy's delicious cheesecake around 9'ish while playing Sequence which by the way was a slaughter by the guys over the gals. Mike and Jordan were on the ball and and it was 4-1 for us winners.
We had a huge breakfast of delicious bacon brought down from a slaughter house in Virginia by sister Dee. Kelly's kids were sad to leave here. Her kids are so well mannered and very busy. We took them down to the sliding rocks area of Stone Mountain where Jordan their dad had all of the kids on his lap sliding down these smooth rocks into the ice cold water. They had a ball and then we did fire works with them until dark then they got their baths and was soon ready for bed. I too was whupped after another busy day and by 10:30 I too was ready for some horizontal lab, LATER

Friday Morning July 17th
Well Nancy and I had the boys from 8'ish until close to 6 which is a full day no doubt when your trying to feed, diaper, entertain and then get them to nap throughout the day. There were times when we were free to catch up on some small chores and then times where we were totally absorbed with two boys wanting attention and I do believe missing everyone else.
Bobby and the rest of the family headed down to Boone to spend the day with family who was here for a couple of days. They hiked and had lunch out then made a Publix stop for Nancy while in Boone. We took the boys on a couple golf cart rides, did some swinging on the porch as well as some rocking chair time. Ryder took a great hour and half nap during the morning and Huck cat napped through the day. Both boys are teething which is making them some what fussy at times but they both ate well and loaded their britches.
We did several loads of laundry for them as well as for us during the day. I'm still doctoring or icing the lower back at times as I tamper down the prednisone from 6o mgs to 5 mgs by the last day which is Monday. I have noticed some difference in the pain level but its sure not healing as fast as I would like. We have sister Dee and her youngest daughter and family coming in today for the weekend. Bobby and family leave early Saturday morning so we will still have a house full with 3 little ones running around. It's been a whirlwind week with the Everette family with two little boys for 3 days and now 3 more little ones plus Anns and Gabe and the boys all week. With so much activity I've not been able to concentrate on the back issues which has been a blessing, LATER

Thursday Morning July 16th
Well its all quiet here this AM with company gone except for Bobby and family. We got to bed at a decent hour last evening instead of the after midnights games. Oh well. It's been fun and I only wish I had been a little cheerier with this aggravating back and knee pain. Its starting to ease just a bit and at times I'm not noticing it 24/7 which is a good thing because I'm on the tamper down side of the meds which is necessary when using prednisone I learned.
We spent the morning with Austin and family and they cut our around 10'ish for their cabin in the Boone area where Bobby will meet up with them today. We will stay back and watch the boys which is always a treat. They are teething which is always a very uncomfortable time with newborns and they are not napping great but the nights seem to be good thus far. We stayed around the cabin except after their 3'ish feeding we took them over to visit our "mountain mom" Helen for a few and then Nancy and Katie took the boys back to the cabin for a nap while the rest of us fished in her lake. We caught enough fish for supper this evening(thur) and then we settled in the rest of the evening cleaning up some leftovers and then we got into a family game of Kings on the Corner which Bobby smoked us big time. Anns and Gabe played the game quiet well and really enjoyed it as well. I went to bed around 10'ish after a hot shower as did everyone else as they must get up and be in Boone around 10'ish this morning.
Well it rained during the night and its quite foggy here on the mountain and probably our first really muggy morning, LATER

Wednesday Morning July 15th
Well Tuesday was busy fun filled good eatin' day.The weather has been picture perfect with cool mornings in the 60's and maybe reaching the low 80's during the highest heat of the afternoon. I'm still battling this lower back right leg pain issue but its not excruciating which is saying a lot. I still have few more days as I tamper down the prednisone meds so we will see if I need an MRI next week. I'm hoping the issue will correct itself but right now I'm not positive it will happen as its going on nearly a month since I injured it, oh well.
We took care of the boys from lunch time on until Bobby and Austin and their families got back from Stone Mountain Park and the sliding rock areas. Everyone seemed to have a grand time. We ate high on the hog again for supper with a vegetable basket done on the grill with fresh zucchini's from the garden, fresh mushrooms, onions, red and green peppers to accompany a perfectly grilled rib eye, white taters with fresh parsley and dill and a delicious garden salad. The fruit of the vine did flow freely as well before and during supper.
We all took a hike after supper except for which I rode the golf cart and then carried all the little kids back with me as well as their 6 month old poodle. I started a campfire and the kids all had smores and then the Everett boys ages 4 and 6 were ready for bed along with Ryder and Huck. Once they were in bed we settled into some Sequence until close 11'ish. We did open the bottle of over a hundred year old whiskey and we saluted our great grandfather who once was General Lee's bodyguard during the civil war. I suppose the radicals would have a fit and call us racist, LATER

Tuesday Morning July 14th
Well Monday was another busy fun filled day with great temps and weather until the middle of the afternoon when we got a down pour that left us with over an inch of rain. We started the day with a 7'ish roll out to the boys coming down around 8 ish after nearly 12 hours of sleep. The little Huck is the most smiley baby ever when first awakening and he just loves to sit on my lap while I make this post.
Nancy's cousin Austin and Family came around 7'ish and we had supper out on the deck. They have two very energetic boys who also brought their new dog which is as energetic as they are. They stayed down in the basement and used the new bunk beds for the first time which caused me to have all of this back issue putting them together. The back is still hurting as well as the knee so I'm thinking I may need to have an MRI next week after all of the company leaves. I did check with the VA yesterday and I'm eligible for the Urgent Care under the new law for veterans to be used at any facility.
Well everyone awakening so I better close, LATER

Monday Morning July 13th
Well its been a fun whirlwind time with Bobby and family. The boys are just so cuddly and so sweet and Huck is such a morning smiley baby and Ryder does eventually get smiley but he isn't immediately as Hick. We got to watch them alone for about 5 hours yesterday as Bobby took the rest of his crew on a float down the New River. The weather is almost perfect with cool morning temps and yesterday we didn't turn the a/c on until late evening after their hike to the top of the mountain.
We are eating high on the hog as well as Bobby and Nancy are combined with some awesome delicious chow. We are eating leftovers as much as possible due to over fixing but they are just as good as the day they were prepared. We took the boys on a golf cart ride before lunch and in between their feedings and naps and everyone on top of the mountain came out to see them and say just how beautiful and perfect they were. Of course the boys gave out smiles and melted their hearts as did they ours. They eat quite well with baby food and formulas about every 3 hours and they do nap after about an hour or so after their feedings. They slept 11 hours Saturday night and they both love their baths. Their naps last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour or so and it routine after their meals.
Ryder is sitting up more than Huck but they both love to be on the floor scooting around usually backwards. Huck is very vocal on the rides as well as they both love being carried on body packs on their evening hikes. Katie and Bobby share carrying them as my back is still somewhat compromised despite the meds. I'm doing better but not totally 100% yet and I still have a couple more days of meds before I'll see if I need and MRI for this back and knee issue. At times it feels great with little or no pain but there seems to be a constant dull ache which reminds me of the time before I had the herniated disc operation in the 60's.
Well we have another cousin coming in today with their two boys and puppy for 2 nights before they go to Boone for their rental cabin. It should be a house full to say the least. We played games until nearly midnight before calling it a day, LATER

Sunday Morning July 12th
Well Saturday was a busy filled day with son Bobby and family as we loved up on them all day long. Huck just came down stairs while his brother and parents are still sleeping and helped me start this blog which will be rather short as he is helping me with the key pushes. He is just such a smiley baby when first awakening and is quite the charmer.
We did golf cart rides through out the day and a long hike which they throughly enjoyed with friends from our old church in Seminole; the Carlsons. They have been long friends from when we first built the cabin and they now are proud grand parents as well. The food was amazing through out the day and I took the older grand kiddos down to the small creek where they loved playing in the cold water and building dams, etc.
It has been fantastic weather and we sat on the porch as well eating out on the deck for our supper. We even did smores for the bigger grans as well. I hear Huck's brother up stairs and he is coming down, so I'll sign off.
Well Bobby, Katie Annsley and Gabe are on the river and its a little after 1.We just fed the boys, change diaper and swaddled them for their afternoon nap. We did get them out on a golf cart rode this morning and stopped and visited with several neighbors on top of the mountains. Of course the boys are the hit this week as everyone just gandered and said how beautiful they were, especially Bertie who has such a sweet southern draw to her voice. We fed them butternut squash with a little oatmeal but Ryder wasn't happy so Nancy has to sweetened the dish with some applesauce. Huck got his down but that isn't one of their favorite dishes. Of course they sucked down their formulas then we put them in the seats to play for nearly an hour and then it rub their eyes and we put them down upstairs in their separate beds, Later
